An Etihad Airways flight (EY146) from Geneva to Abu Dhabi on September 22 was delayed due to routine checks after a suspected bird strike. The airline apologized for the disruption and assured passengers that teams are working to assist them. Etihad advised passengers to update their contact details to receive the latest flight information and provided contacts for customer queries through phone, social media, or live chat. Bird strikes are not uncommon and generally occur at lower altitudes during the day.

In a recent incident, an Etihad flight from Colombo to Abu Dhabi had to return after a bird strike. After inspection, the aircraft took off with passengers following a 5-hour delay. Other airlines have also been affected by bird strikes, with an Emirates flight from Dubai to Mumbai hitting a flock of flamingos, resulting in damage to the aircraft and cancellation of the return flight. All passengers and crew remained safe in both incidents, highlighting the potential risks of bird strikes during flights.

Airlines like Etihad and Emirates are taking necessary precautions to ensure the safety of their passengers and crew. In cases of bird strikes, thorough inspections are carried out before allowing the aircraft to continue its journey, as seen in incidents involving Etihad flights. Passengers are advised to stay updated on their flight status and contact the airline for any queries or assistance during such situations.

Passengers facing flight delays or cancellations due to bird strikes or other reasons are encouraged to stay informed and reach out to airlines for support. Airlines like Etihad and Emirates have customer service channels available for passengers to seek assistance and information regarding their flights. Bird strikes, while not uncommon, can impact flight schedules and require thorough inspections to ensure the safety of passengers and crew before resuming travel. By staying informed and following guidelines provided by airlines, passengers can navigate through disruptions caused by bird strikes more effectively.
