A recent global survey conducted by the Future Investment Initiative (FII) Institute in partnership with Ipsos has revealed a significant decline in satisfaction levels among citizens from 24 countries, representing 62% of the world’s population. Over half of the respondents expressed dissatisfaction with the current state of the world, reflecting an 11% decrease from levels reported in 2023. Notably, the United States experienced a dramatic 20% drop in confidence over the past year. In contrast, Saudi Arabia ranks highest in citizen satisfaction, with 84% of its residents expressing contentment with their lives, highlighting the Kingdom’s effective governance and economic initiatives.

The survey explored citizen sentiments regarding the economy, health, technology, healthcare, and government performance. Financial insecurity remains the top concern globally, with inflation and job security being identified as primary issues. Environmental issues have slipped in priority, now ranking fifth and representing the top concern for only 13% of respondents. Concerns regarding government performance and healthcare have surged, reshaping public sentiment. Richard Attias, CEO of the FII Institute, emphasized the importance of leaders and policymakers worldwide listening to the genuine concerns of citizens to shape a better and safer world.

The FII8 conference, taking place in Riyadh from October 29 to 31, brings together over 7,000 leaders, investors, experts, academics, and innovators to focus on pressing issues facing humanity today. The research findings will guide discussions and provide insights into the everyday challenges faced by individuals globally. The event follows the United Nations General Assembly and precedes the G20 leaders’ summit in Rio de Janeiro, showcasing Saudi Arabia’s growing influence on the global stage.

The survey results highlight the need for leaders to address the concerns of citizens worldwide to create a better future. The decline in satisfaction levels among citizens from various countries underscores the importance of effective governance and economic initiatives in promoting contentment. Saudi Arabia’s high ranking in citizen satisfaction serves as an example of successful leadership and policies that prioritize the well-being of residents. The FII Institute’s research provides valuable data that informs discussions at summits and emphasizes the need for global cooperation in addressing pressing issues.

Financial insecurity, inflation, and job security are identified as primary concerns globally, while environmental issues have decreased in priority. The survey findings indicate a shift in public sentiment towards increased concerns about government performance and healthcare. As the FII8 conference unfolds, leaders, investors, and experts will come together to discuss these pressing issues and work towards shaping a better and safer world. The event coincides with other global summits, highlighting Saudi Arabia’s proactive role in addressing global challenges and influencing international discussions.
