Sidra Medicine, a member of Qatar Foundation, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Children’s National Hospital from Washington DC, to establish a nursing partnership program. This MoU will support Sidra Medicine’s journey towards nursing excellence and help establish it as a Magnet hospital through its Pathways to Excellence program. The partnership aims to create opportunities to lead to the formation of Sidra Medicine and Children’s National as sister hospitals.

Dr. Iyabo Tinubu-Karch, Chief Executive Officer at Sidra Medicine, emphasized the vital role that nursing plays in Sidra Medicine’s mission and vision to become a center of excellence for learning and discovery. With over 1200 nurses as a critical part of the care team, Sidra Medicine wants to provide opportunities and resources to help nurses excel in their fields. The partnership with Children’s National will create stronger training and upskilling opportunities for pediatric-focused nurses, supporting their career development paths.

DeAnn Marshall, President of Children’s National Hospital Foundation, expressed excitement about partnering with Sidra Medicine. This collaboration represents a significant step forward in providing high-quality healthcare services to patients worldwide. By partnering with Sidra Medicine, Children’s National aims to support the training and education of nurse leaders in the region, fulfilling the ever-growing need for skilled healthcare professionals in the field.

Judy Dawson-Jones, Chief Nursing Officer at Sidra Medicine, highlighted the benefits of the partnership with Children’s National. This collaboration will provide Sidra Medicine nurses with access to exceptional experience and skills that will enhance patient experience and improve outcomes. Children’s National, being a Magnet hospital, will offer opportunities for Sidra Medicine nurses to learn from the best and most experienced in pediatric specialties.

Children’s National Hospital has been ranked among the top pediatric hospitals in the United States by US News & World Report. Additionally, the hospital has received Magnet recognition from the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Magnet Recognition Program multiple times. This recognition is the highest honour an organization can receive for professional nursing practice. The partnership with a renowned institution like Children’s National will further enhance Sidra Medicine’s nursing programs and support their nurses’ professional development.

Overall, the partnership between Sidra Medicine and Children’s National Hospital is a significant achievement that will benefit both institutions. Through this collaboration, Sidra Medicine will enhance its nursing programs, provide opportunities for professional development for its nurses, and work towards becoming a Magnet hospital.
