Doha, Qatar – The second round of the HH The Father Amir’s Equestrian Prix is set to commence this Thursday at Al Shaqab’s Longines Arena, attracting over 240 riders as part of the prestigious Doha Equestrian Tour 2026. This highly anticipated event showcases world-class show jumping competition and contributes to Qatar’s growing reputation as a global equestrian hub. The competition will feature a range of classes, from one-star to five-star, providing opportunities for riders of all levels to compete.

The multi-day event will unfold across three arenas – the main Longines outdoor arena, a second outdoor arena, and the Longines indoor arena – hosting a diverse schedule of classes. Competition begins with 135cm and 140cm three-star events, quickly escalating to include challenging five-star courses reaching 150cm in height.

HH The Father Amir’s Equestrian Prix: A Showcase of Show Jumping Talent

The HH The Father Amir’s Equestrian Prix is a cornerstone of the Doha Equestrian Tour, known for its significant prize money and the caliber of athletes it attracts. According to organizers, the event aims to promote equestrian sports within Qatar and internationally, fostering a spirit of competition and sportsmanship. This year’s tour is particularly notable as it serves as a key preparation event for the 2026 Doha Equestrian Tour.

Friday’s schedule promises even more intense competition, culminating in 5-star classes with jump-offs. A unique addition to the international circuit will be a 5-star class featuring just six obstacles at 150cm, a format designed to test speed and agility. Additionally, the second outdoor arena will host a 140cm three-star class with a jump-off, while the indoor arena will focus on lower-level competitions and junior events.

The final day, Saturday, will feature the Grand Prix events across all three star levels. The main outdoor arena will host the 3-star Grand Prix at 150cm and the 5-star Grand Prix at 160cm, both with jump-offs. The indoor arena will host the 1-star Grand Prix at 130cm, also with a jump-off, alongside junior and local classes.

Recent Results and Qatari Performance

The first round of the HH The Father Amir’s Equestrian Prix recently concluded with strong performances from international and Qatari riders alike. British riders Harry Charles and Oliver Fletcher secured victories in the 4-star and 2-star Grand Prix events, respectively. However, Qatari riders demonstrated their prowess in the 1-star Grand Prix, sweeping the podium with Hussein Saeed Haidan taking the gold, followed by Saad Ahmed Al Saad and Ghanem Nasser Al Qadi.

These results highlight the increasing depth of equestrian talent within Qatar, fueled by investment in training facilities and programs. The event also serves as a valuable platform for Qatari riders to gain experience and compete against some of the world’s best. The presence of multiple star levels allows for a broad range of participation, fostering growth at all levels of the sport.

The Doha Equestrian Tour, and specifically the HH The Father Amir’s Equestrian Prix, is becoming increasingly important in the international show jumping calendar. The event’s strategic timing and high standards attract riders seeking qualification points for major championships, including the Olympics. The focus on developing local talent, alongside attracting international stars, positions Qatar as a significant player in the equestrian world.

The competition concludes next Saturday with the Grand Prix events. Organizers will be monitoring rider performance and course completion rates throughout the week to assess the overall success of the event and identify areas for improvement in future editions. The final results and any potential impact on international rider rankings will be closely watched by the equestrian community.

Al Shaqab is expected to release a full recap of the event, including detailed results and highlights, following the conclusion of the competition.
