Qatar Diabetes Association (QDA) has launched its annual campaign on World Diabetes Day. This year, the campaign focuses on the theme “Diabetes & Wellbeing.” The campaign draws attention to the challenges faced by people with diabetes in managing their condition and emphasizes the need for diabetes care and support for a healthy life. Dr. Abdulla Al Hamaq, Executive Director of QDA, highlighted the increasing global burden of diabetes and the importance of preventive measures and early diagnosis.

The campaign aims to raise awareness about diabetes, its seriousness, and how to prevent it. It also encourages the global diabetes community to take necessary measures to combat the disease and ensure the safety of communities. Events organized by QDA include the Diabetes Walkathon on November 15th and an annual medical conference on “Diabetes Comorbidities and Complications” on November 8-9 at the Qatar National Convention Centre. The Walkathon attracts decision-makers, health leaders, students, and the general public to participate in raising awareness about diabetes.

The World Diabetes Day campaign focuses on the lives of diabetics, diabetes care, and supporting the quality of healthy life for people with diabetes. Dr. Al Hamaq highlighted the increasing prevalence of type II diabetes due to social, economic, environmental, and genetic factors. He emphasized the importance of taking preventive measures and providing early diagnosis and appropriate care to reduce the impact of diabetes. The campaign serves as a platform for the global diabetes community to come together and raise awareness about the disease.

Qatar Diabetes Association’s annual campaign is part of the global initiative led by the International Diabetes Federation to address the escalating health threat posed by diabetes. World Diabetes Day was created in 1991 by IDF and the World Health Organization to draw attention to issues of paramount importance to the diabetes world. This year’s campaign theme “Diabetes & Wellbeing” highlights the challenges faced by people with diabetes in managing their condition and emphasizes the importance of diabetes care and support for a healthy life.

The Qatar Diabetes Association is actively involved in organizing events to raise awareness about diabetes, such as the Diabetes Walkathon and the annual medical conference on “Diabetes Comorbidities and Complications.” These events bring together government agencies, civil society institutions, schools, sports clubs, individuals, and opinion leaders to participate in the enlightenment process. The goal is to mobilize the entire global diabetes community to take action against diabetes and ensure the well-being of communities worldwide.

Overall, the Qatar Diabetes Association’s campaign on World Diabetes Day aims to raise awareness about diabetes, promote preventive measures, and encourage early diagnosis and appropriate care for people with diabetes. The campaign emphasizes the importance of diabetes care, support for a healthy life, and the need to combat the escalating global burden of diabetes. Through events such as the Diabetes Walkathon and the annual medical conference, QDA is actively engaging the community to take action against diabetes and improve the well-being of individuals living with the disease.
