Qatar sees annual increase of 10.2 percent in inbound visitors in July

The State of Qatar saw a 10.2 percent increase in the number of inbound visitors in July 2024 compared to the same month the previous year, with a total of about 317 thousand visitors. The majority of these visitors came from the Gulf Cooperation Council, accounting for 46 percent of the total. The visitors arrived primarily by air, making up 59 percent of the total number of visitors.

The Qatar Monthly Statistical Bulletin for July 2024 also highlighted some notable changes in the banking sector, with total commercial bank deposits and facilities seeing monthly increases of 0.1 percent and 0.9 percent, respectively. On an annual basis, there was an increase of 11.3 percent in total commercial bank deposits and 7.4 percent in facilities compared to July 2023. The Total Broad Money Supply (M2) reached approximately QR 727 billion, showing a 6.4 percent increase from the previous year.

In terms of vital statistics, there were 2501 live births registered in July 2024, marking a 2.2 percent increase in total Qatari live births compared to the previous month. However, there was also a notable increase in the number of deaths, with 221 recorded in July 2024, a 17.6 percent increase from the previous month. Additionally, there was a decrease in the number of marriage contracts and a significant increase in divorce certificates, with 348 marriages and 244 divorces recorded.

The Social Security statements in July 2024 totaled QR 77 million for 14,385 beneficiaries, showing a monthly increase of 0.3 percent in the value of social security and a 0.2 percent increase in the number of beneficiaries. The data on building permits showed a total of 741 permits issued in July 2024, reflecting a monthly increase of 36.5 percent and an annual increase of 16.9 percent.

The number of registered new vehicles in July 2024 reached 7733, with a monthly increase of 22.1 percent and an annual increase of 25.8 percent. However, there were also 602 traffic accidents recorded during the same period, with a monthly decrease of 7.0 percent in cases, but an annual increase of 1.2 percent. Six deaths were reported, accounting for only 1 percent of total traffic accidents cases. As Qatar continues to see growth in various sectors, the country remains a popular destination for visitors and investors alike.
