The 10th session of the Qatari-Turkish Supreme Strategic Committee took place in Ankara, Turkey, with the leadership of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Both countries reaffirmed their strong historical bonds and commitment to enhance their partnership in various fields. The committee reviewed the progress made in areas of cooperation, expressing satisfaction with over 100 documents signed in previous sessions.

In the areas of trade, finance, investment, and energy, Qatar and Turkey agreed to explore opportunities to expand economic relations and reach a trade volume of 5 billion USD. Both sides also expressed their desire to strengthen economic and financial cooperation through public-private partnerships and exchange of experiences. They will put into force the Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement to improve commercial, economic, and investment relations.

Cooperation in culture and education was also highlighted, with both countries aiming to strengthen cooperation in cultural, artistic, and educational activities. They agreed to activate cultural events that reflect the rich history of the two nations and to support the exchange of technical knowledge and experts in various fields. The two sides discussed expanding cooperation in education, including the opening of Turkish Teaching Centers in Qatar and the establishment of a joint scholarship program.

In the field of media and communications, Qatar and Turkey expressed readiness to develop cooperation in public diplomacy, media, and broadcasting. They also emphasized the importance of collaborating in public health, providing support in the areas of health services, disaster management, and security. Both nations also affirmed their commitment to strengthen bilateral defense cooperation and research and innovation initiatives.

Addressing regional and international issues, Qatar and Turkey expressed appreciation for each other’s efforts in promoting peace and reconciliation in various conflicts. They condemned violations of international law, particularly in Gaza, Lebanon, and Yemen, and called for diplomatic efforts to end conflicts in these regions. Both countries emphasized the importance of supporting stability in Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, and the Horn of Africa, while tackling global challenges related to food security, the Black Sea, and the Cyprus issue.

The joint communique concluded with plans to hold the eleventh session of the Supreme Strategic Committee in Qatar in 2025. Both sides expressed gratitude for the spirit of brotherhood and understanding during the meeting, reflecting the strength of their strategic relationship. Overall, the session reaffirmed the commitment of Qatar and Turkey to deepen cooperation across various fields for the benefit of both nations.
