The recent shooting near the Imam Ali Mosque in Muscat, Oman, has left four people dead and several others injured. This tragic incident, which occurred in the Al-Wadi Al-Kabir area, is a rare occurrence in the otherwise stable sultanate. The Royal Oman Police responded to the shooting and confirmed the initial toll of four killed and multiple wounded at the mosque in eastern Muscat. Among the wounded are Pakistani nationals, although the exact number has not been confirmed by Islamabad’s embassy in Oman.

Pakistan’s ambassador to Oman, Imran Ali, visited some of the wounded in the hospital and urged Pakistanis in Oman to cooperate with local authorities and avoid the area where the shooting took place. Following the incident, the US embassy in Muscat issued a security alert and cancelled all visa appointments for the day. They advised US citizens to remain cautious, monitor local news, and follow the directions of local authorities.

Footage from the scene verified by AFP shows people fleeing the area near the mosque as gunshots are heard. The police have assured that all necessary security measures and procedures have been implemented to handle the situation. Investigations are ongoing to uncover the circumstances surrounding the attack, and the authorities are working diligently to gather evidence.

The area around the Imam Ali Mosque remained cordoned off later on Tuesday, with journalists unable to access the site. Oman, with a population of over four million people, has a significant expatriate workforce making up more than 40% of the population. This tragic incident has shocked the nation and raised concerns about safety and security in the peaceful sultanate.

As details continue to emerge about the shooting near the mosque in Muscat, the community has come together to support the victims and their families. The rare occurrence of such violence in Oman has sparked discussions about the need for increased security measures and vigilance in the country. The authorities are working tirelessly to ensure the safety of all residents and visitors in the wake of this tragic event.

In conclusion, the shooting near the Imam Ali Mosque in Muscat, Oman, has left the nation in mourning. The rare act of violence has underscored the importance of remaining vigilant and cooperating with authorities to maintain peace and security in the sultanate. As investigations progress and more information comes to light, the community stands united in support of those affected by this tragic incident.
