Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, recently addressed the 57th Convocation Ceremony of the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) where he emphasized the need for a collective effort to achieve India’s export target of $2 trillion by 2030. With India expected to cross $800 billion in exports this year, Goyal stressed the importance of planning and strategic action to reach this ambitious goal. He highlighted the potential of India’s free trade agreements (FTAs) in opening new markets and opportunities for businesses of all sizes.

Goyal urged stakeholders to work together to leverage these FTAs effectively, enabling Indian businesses to tap into new markets and create job opportunities domestically. He also called for actionable suggestions to address non-tariff barriers and strengthen India’s position in future trade negotiations. Emphasizing the role of IIFT as a think tank and research organization, Goyal encouraged the institute to support the government and industry in advancing India’s trade and economic growth.

The Minister’s message underscores the importance of proactive planning and collaboration to drive India’s export growth. By harnessing the potential of FTAs and addressing barriers to trade, Indian businesses can expand their reach and contribute to the country’s economic development. Goyal’s call for collective efforts and strategic action sets the tone for a focused and coordinated approach to reaching the $2 trillion export target by 2030.

As India seeks to expand its global trade presence, Minister Goyal’s vision of leveraging FTAs and addressing non-tariff barriers can help unlock new opportunities for Indian businesses. By identifying specific areas of contribution and focusing on sustainable growth strategies, stakeholders can work towards achieving the ambitious export target. With the global stage waiting for Indian leadership, it is imperative for all stakeholders to come together and play their part in driving India’s export growth in the years to come.
