Oman and Bahrain explore collaboration opportunities across different sectors

The 8th session of the Joint Omani-Bahraini Committee was recently held in Muscat, with Sayyid Badr Hamad Al Busaidi, Oman’s Foreign Minister, and Dr. Abdullatif Rashid Al Zayani, Bahrain’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, leading the discussions. Sayyid Badr emphasized the strong brotherly ties between Oman and Bahrain, highlighting the significant progress made in economic relations. Trade exchange between the two countries reached OMR118 million by August 2024, with joint investments growing in various sectors such as infrastructure, tourism, logistics, industry, and banking.

The session focused on enhancing cooperation opportunities in various fields and exploring new horizons for mutual benefits. The ministers highlighted the importance of continuing to strengthen strategic partnerships to further advance bilateral relations. Al Zayani praised the political cooperation between Oman and Bahrain and emphasized the importance of cooperation and consultation on regional and international issues to support regional peace and stability. At the conclusion of the session, the two ministers signed the minutes of the 8th session of the joint Omani-Bahraini committee.

The Omani delegation at the session included Khalid Hashel Al Muslehi, Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Sheikh Ahmed Hashel Al Maskri, Head of the GCC Department at the Foreign Ministry, and Sayyid Faisal Harib Al Busaidi, Oman’s Ambassador to Bahrain. On the Bahraini side, the delegation included Hamad Faisal Al Malki, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, and Dr. Juma Ahmed Al Kaabi, Bahrain’s Ambassador to Oman.

The joint committee meeting highlighted the importance of enhancing cooperation between Oman and Bahrain in various sectors to further strengthen bilateral relations. The ministers emphasized the need for continued collaboration and dialogue on regional and international issues to support peace and stability in the region. The meeting also aimed to explore new opportunities for mutual benefit and to boost strategic partnerships between the two countries.

The ministers discussed the remarkable advancements in economic relations between Oman and Bahrain, with trade exchange reaching OMR118 million by August 2024. They also noted the growth of joint investments in key sectors such as infrastructure, tourism, logistics, industry, and banking. The session provided a platform to review progress made in bilateral cooperation and to identify areas for further collaboration.

The signing of the minutes of the 8th session of the joint Omani-Bahraini committee marked a significant step towards strengthening ties between the two countries. The meeting underscored the commitment of both Oman and Bahrain to deepening their strategic partnership and working together to address regional challenges. The session served as a testament to the close relations and ongoing cooperation between Oman and Bahrain across various fields.
