The recent heatwave in Saudi Arabia has caused extreme temperatures in the city of Dammam, with the mercury climbing to a scorching 50 degrees Celsius in the shade. This alarming heatwave has prompted Hussein Al-Qahtani, spokesman of the National Center of Meteorology (NMC), to issue a warning that the heat waves are expected to continue in the coming period, with the Eastern Province and Riyadh regions being the most affected. Despite being only in the first quarter of the summer season, temperatures are already reaching dangerous levels.

The National Center of Meteorology (NMC) has released a weather forecast predicting that the regions of Riyadh and Eastern Province will continue to experience hot to very hot weather, while parts of the Makkah region and the Eastern Province may also experience active winds causing dust. This forecast highlights the importance of taking precautions to protect oneself from the extreme heat and dust storms, especially in the more affected areas. It is important for residents to stay informed about weather updates and follow any guidelines or warnings issued by the NMC.

In order to protect yourself from the extreme heat during the heatwave, it is crucial to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water and avoiding caffeinated or alcoholic beverages. It is also advisable to avoid outdoor activities during the hottest parts of the day and to wear loose-fitting, light-colored clothing to help stay cool. Additionally, staying indoors in air-conditioned or well-ventilated spaces can provide relief from the sweltering temperatures outside.

The impact of extreme heatwaves goes beyond just discomfort, as it can pose serious health risks such as heat exhaustion or heatstroke. Recognizing the symptoms of heat-related illnesses, such as dizziness, nausea, or vomiting, is important in order to seek medical attention promptly if needed. Vulnerable populations, such as the elderly, children, and those with chronic health conditions, should take extra precautions during heatwaves to stay safe and healthy.

As the heatwave continues to affect various regions in Saudi Arabia, it is crucial for residents to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to protect themselves from the extreme weather conditions. By staying informed about weather updates and following guidelines from the National Center of Meteorology (NMC), individuals can reduce their risk of heat-related illnesses and stay safe during this challenging time. Remember to stay hydrated, avoid outdoor activities during the hottest parts of the day, and seek medical help if experiencing symptoms of heat-related illnesses. Stay safe and stay cool during this heatwave season.
