More than 378,000 students resume classes on September 1

The Ministry of Education and Higher Education in Qatar recently held its annual educational meeting, where Undersecretary Dr. Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Nuaimi and Assistant Undersecretary Maha Al Ruwaili announced that a total of 378,134 students would be returning to government and private schools for the academic year 2024-25. This includes 136,802 students in 303 government schools and kindergartens who will start on September 1. The ministry also mentioned that 2,353 buses and 160 vans would be available to transport students, including those with special needs, to school.

Furthermore, the Private Education Affairs Sector is prepared to receive 241,332 students, including 48,319 Qatari students. Thirteen new private schools and kindergartens have been licensed to open, with 134 private schools benefiting from the educational voucher system. Additionally, government schools have completed preparations for the new academic year by maintaining facilities and ensuring safety and security measures are in place. This includes equipping school cafeterias to meet health and nutrition standards.

The annual meeting was held under the patronage of Minister of Education and Higher Education H E Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi, with senior officials and educational leaders in attendance. The meeting aimed to share visions and aspirations for the new academic year, highlighting strategic directions and educational plans. Educational leaders were provided with support to achieve the ministry’s vision, exchange experiences, and celebrate achievements. Important developments in the education system were also discussed.

In his opening speech, Dr. Al Nuaimi emphasized the importance of dedication and sincerity in the education sector to achieve success. He highlighted the ministry’s efforts to provide a modern and stimulating educational environment, update curricula, and enhance school infrastructure. Al Nuaimi also mentioned the priority placed on providing quality training opportunities for educational leaders to ensure that Qatar remains a leader in education.

Overall, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in Qatar is focused on providing quality education that meets international standards and contributes to the nation’s development. With the start of the new academic year, students, teachers, and educational leaders are encouraged to work together towards achieving educational excellence and creating a positive learning environment for all students. By investing in educational resources, infrastructure, and training opportunities, Qatar continues to prioritize education as a key pillar for societal advancement.
