Saudi Minister of Tourism and Chairman of the Executive Council of the UN Tourism, Ahmed Al-Khateeb, announced that Saudi Arabia is investing a massive $800 billion into establishing tourism projects and destinations, making it the highest number of tourism investments in the world. He highlighted that this significant investment will change the global tourism map and make the sector more attractive to investors. The minister emphasized that Saudi Arabia aims to add over 250,000 rooms in the tourism hospitality sector in the coming years, which will bring about a substantial addition to tourism in the region. This development is in line with the Saudi Vision 2030, with a goal to increase the sector’s contribution to the economy from 4.5 percent to 10 percent by 2030.

Attracting and qualifying national human resources are crucial factors for the development of the tourism sector in the region. Al-Khateeb stressed that the Saudi Ministry of Tourism is focused on qualifying national cadres working in the sector and is actively working to attract young Saudi men and women to this vital industry. Collaborating with member states of the UN Tourism in the Middle East region, Saudi Arabia is working towards developing the tourism sector in the region due to its global importance. Al-Khateeb highlighted that the Middle East region possesses great potential and natural resources that enable it to become one of the most significant tourist destinations in the world, offering everything that global tourists seek.

The countries in the Middle East region are collectively moving in the right direction towards developing the tourism sector. They have begun developing plans and strategies to leverage the promising sector’s potential. Saudi Arabia, along with other member states, is working towards enhancing the tourism sector collaboratively. With the support and cooperation of various countries in the region, there is a clear alignment in efforts to maximize the benefits of the tourism sector and capitalize on the region’s offerings to attract global visitors.

This substantial investment by Saudi Arabia in the tourism sector is part of a larger vision to diversify the economy and reduce the dependency on oil revenues. By expanding the tourism industry and making it a major contributor to the economy, Saudi Arabia can create job opportunities and stimulate economic growth. The strategic development of tourism projects and destinations will not only attract investors but also position Saudi Arabia as a leading global tourism destination. With the right investments and initiatives, Saudi Arabia’s tourism sector has the potential to become a key player in the international tourism market, offering unique and diverse experiences for visitors from around the world.

In conclusion, Saudi Arabia’s significant investments in the tourism sector highlight the country’s commitment to transforming its economy and establishing itself as a major player in the global tourism industry. By focusing on attracting and qualifying national human resources, developing tourism projects, and collaborating with other countries in the Middle East region, Saudi Arabia is paving the way for a prosperous and sustainable tourism sector. With the right strategies and initiatives in place, Saudi Arabia is poised to achieve its goal of increasing the tourism sector’s contribution to the economy and becoming a top tourist destination in the world.
