Media City Qatar (MCQ) has recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Cite de Memoire, a prominent Paris-based organization dedicated to utilizing digital transformation and cutting-edge media for the preservation and promotion of various media content assets, including public arts. The agreement was made at The Arab States Broadcasting Union in Tunis, Tunisia, and marks the beginning of a project of national significance for the State of Qatar: the development and operation of a new National Media Digitization & Preservation Centre.

Cite de Memoire will provide support to MCQ by offering training to archivists and managers, utilizing their three decades of expertise to assist in the archiving, digitization, and cataloguing of various media formats such as audio, video, films, images, documents, artefacts, and more. This collaboration aims to ensure the preservation of Qatar’s heritage and current endeavors for future generations. HE Sheikh Dr. Abdulla bin Ali Al-Thani, Chairman of Media City Qatar, expressed excitement about the partnership with Cite de Memoire, emphasizing the importance of this ambitious plan for Qatar’s national history and culture.

This groundbreaking partnership between MCQ and Cite de Memoire is set to build a Centre that will not only preserve Qatar’s history but also promote awareness and appreciation of the nation’s legacy. By combining tradition with innovation, the Centre aims to make the story of Qatar accessible, enjoyable, and inspiring to all. This collaboration reflects MCQ’s commitment to safeguarding the cultural and historical fabric of Qatari society in the Middle East.

The National Media Digitization & Preservation Centre will play a crucial role in ensuring that Qatar’s heritage and cultural assets are protected for future generations. By archiving and digitizing various media formats, the Centre will serve as a hub for preserving important aspects of Qatar’s history and culture. This initiative aligns with Qatar’s vision for the future, blending tradition with innovation to create a platform that celebrates the nation’s rich heritage and achievements.

Through this partnership, MCQ and Cite de Memoire aim to create a Centre that not only preserves Qatar’s history but also showcases it in an engaging and inspiring manner. By leveraging cutting-edge technology and expertise in media preservation, the Centre will ensure that Qatar’s legacy is accessible to all and appreciated by future generations. The collaboration between these two organizations highlights the importance of safeguarding cultural heritage and promoting awareness of Qatar’s rich history and achievements.

In conclusion, the partnership between MCQ and Cite de Memoire represents a significant step towards preserving Qatar’s heritage and cultural assets for future generations. By establishing the National Media Digitization & Preservation Centre, both organizations are dedicated to ensuring that Qatar’s history is safeguarded and celebrated. Through the blend of tradition and innovation, this collaboration aims to create a Centre that will not only preserve Qatar’s legacy but also promote awareness and appreciation of the nation’s cultural and historical fabric.
