Manchester City’s forward Erling Haaland has been nominated for the PFA Player of the Year award for the second year in a row, alongside his team-mates Phil Foden and Rodri. Haaland had an outstanding season with 38 goals in all competitions, helping City secure their fourth consecutive Premier League title. The Norwegian star had previously won the award after City’s treble-winning campaign in 2022-23. Rodri was instrumental in City’s midfield, while Foden scored 27 goals in the previous season under the guidance of manager Pep Guardiola.

Aside from the Manchester City trio, other players nominated for the PFA award include Chelsea’s Cole Palmer, Arsenal’s Martin Odegaard, and Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins. The competition is tough amongst the nominees, with each player having contributed significantly to their respective teams. The winners of the award will be announced at the PFA Awards ceremony in Manchester on August 20. The women’s award will also see fierce competition between Chelsea and City players, with Niamh Charles, Erin Cuthbert, and Lauren James representing Chelsea, while Yui Hasegawa, Lauren Hemp, and Khadija Shaw representing City.

Erling Haaland’s performance in the pre-season club friendly match between Chelsea FC and Manchester City FC at Ohio Stadium in Columbus, Ohio showcased his exceptional talent, with the forward scoring three goals during the second half. His goal-scoring abilities have been crucial for his team’s success, and his impact on the pitch has not gone unnoticed. With the PFA Player of the Year nomination, Haaland is once again being recognized for his outstanding contributions to Manchester City’s success.

Rodri, who played a key role in City’s midfield during their latest Premier League triumph, has also been nominated for the PFA award. The Spanish midfielder was instrumental in City’s success both domestically and internationally, helping Spain win the Euro 2024 tournament. His consistent performances and ability to control the midfield have been vital for City’s success, and his nomination for the award is well-deserved. With strong competition from his team-mates and other players in the league, the race for the PFA Player of the Year award promises to be exciting.

Phil Foden, another standout player for Manchester City, had an impressive season, scoring 27 goals for Guardiola’s side. The young England playmaker has been a key player for City, showcasing his skills and creativity in midfield. Foden’s nomination for the PFA award is a testament to his talent and hard work throughout the season. Alongside his team-mates Haaland and Rodri, Foden will be vying for the prestigious award, hoping to be recognized as one of the best players in the Premier League. The winners of the PFA awards will be announced at a ceremony in Manchester, where the top performers of the season will be celebrated for their exceptional contributions to their teams.
