As the summer break comes to an end, the municipal councils in Bahrain are gearing up to reconvene for their regular sessions in September. The Capital Municipality Council, along with the Muharraq, Northern, and Southern municipal councils, will resume their third session of the year after a brief hiatus. These sessions were put on hold at the end of June for the summer break, allowing council members to recharge and prepare for the upcoming meetings.

The Capital Municipality Council is set to kick off its first meeting on September 11th, where they will focus on approving committee formations, reviewing responses from ministries, and addressing decisions made during the break. Additionally, the council will prioritize topics for discussion in future meetings during this session. The Muharraq Municipal Council will follow suit with their first meeting on September 9th, focusing on committee assignments, addressing pending issues, and reviewing urgent correspondence from ministries that require council input.

Leading up to the official sessions, the Northern Municipal Council will hold a pre-meeting on September 2nd to form committees before their first regular meeting. The first meeting will finalize committee assignments and set the stage for discussions on various topics. Similarly, the Southern Municipal Council will have a consultative meeting for committee formation on September 4th, followed by their first regular meeting on a date that will be determined in the near future.

During the upcoming sessions, the Southern Municipal Council will tackle key topics such as a proposal to expand Isa Town Road and the consideration of removing oil pipelines along Muaskar Avenue to facilitate road widening. These discussions aim to address traffic congestion and improve infrastructure in the area, especially with the school year about to begin. Council leaders are hopeful about the impact they can make during this session, emphasizing the importance of working collaboratively to achieve meaningful results.

Dr. Shubir Al Widae, President of the Northern Municipal Council, expressed optimism about the council’s ability to achieve significant accomplishments during the upcoming session. He highlighted the importance of council members working together as a unified team to make a qualitative leap in their municipal work. With a collective focus on collaboration and effective decision-making, the municipal councils are poised to address pressing issues, improve infrastructure, and enhance the overall quality of life for residents in Bahrain.
