The Sultanate of Oman will celebrate Omani Youth Day on October 26 of each year, highlighting the importance of the youth segment in society. His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik believes that the youth are the wealth of nations and their inexhaustible resource. His Highness Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham Al Said, Minister of Culture, Sports, and Youth, will patronize the ceremony that will be held at the Oman Across Ages Museum in Manah, Al Dakhiliyah Governorate.

The ceremony will include the announcement of the winners of the Youth Excellence Award for the year 2024, which aims to honor distinguished Omani youth and highlight efforts to serve youth and society. This year, the award targeted five categories including individuals, youth institutions, civil society institutions, and companies supporting the youth sector by the private sector. The fields of the award range from digital economy and media to environment, work, entrepreneurship, and youth initiatives.

In addition to the Youth Excellence Award, the ceremony will include the inauguration of branches of the Youth Center in the governorates to reach and include all youth categories in the Sultanate of Oman. There will also be signing of cooperation and partnership agreements during the event. Official data issued by the Youth Center indicate that the total number of beneficiaries of the center reached 110,361, with 101,600 young people benefiting from the center’s spaces and 8,761 beneficiaries from its programs. The number of small and medium enterprises contracted with the center reached 309 institutions.

The Omani Youth Day celebration emphasizes the importance of creating a spirit of competition among Omani youth and encouraging them to develop skills to build an aware, responsible, creative, and proactive generation. The event aims to highlight effective institutional initiatives and promote youth involvement in various sectors such as the digital economy, media, environment, work, entrepreneurship, and youth initiatives. By recognizing and supporting the achievements and efforts of the youth, the Sultanate of Oman demonstrates its commitment to empowering the next generation of leaders in the country.

The Youth Center plays a crucial role in providing opportunities for young people to engage in programs and initiatives that contribute to their personal and professional development. Through various training programs and partnerships with small and medium enterprises, the center supports the growth and success of the youth sector in Oman. By offering resources and spaces for young people to thrive, the center plays a vital role in nurturing talent and fostering innovation in the Sultanate.

As the Sultanate of Oman celebrates Omani Youth Day, it reinforces the message that the youth are at the heart of the nation’s progress and development. By recognizing their contributions and empowering them to succeed, Oman demonstrates its commitment to ensuring a bright future for the youth and the country as a whole. The Youth Excellence Award and the inauguration of new Youth Center branches are just a few examples of the country’s dedication to supporting and uplifting the youth segment of society, ensuring that they have the resources and opportunities they need to thrive and make a positive impact on their communities.
