Muscat has been bustling with activity during the month of July, with the launch of three different festivals offering diverse events and enjoyable experiences. In the Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, the Rummana Festival kicked off its second edition, while in the Dhofar Governorate, visitors flocked to the Dhofar Khareef Festival at various tourist sites. Additionally, the Ajwaa Ashkharah forum was launched in the South Al Sharqiyah Governorate, promising a month full of events and exhibitions for attendees. The second season of the Ajwaa Al Ashkharah Festival follows the success of its first edition, with a focus on diversifying events and activities to cater to visitors of all ages. The forum aims to educate attendees about the heritage of Oman while providing entertainment and marketing opportunities.

The Rummana event, now in its second edition, aims to enrich tourism in Oman by offering a diverse range of activities and products. Held in Al Jabal Al Akhdar, the festival seeks to solidify the region’s reputation as a leading tourist, cultural, and agricultural destination in the area. The first edition of Rummana attracted over 22,000 visitors, both from within Oman and internationally. The event also contributed to the sale of over 1,800 kilograms of local pomegranate fruit through the participation of 38 local institutions. Building on this success, the second edition of Rummana promises to offer even more attractions and experiences for attendees to enjoy.

Dhofar Governorate, known for its picturesque nature, is a popular tourist destination both locally and globally. The region is set to attract over one million visitors this year, thanks to direct flights to Salalah Airport from various GCC countries. Last year’s Khreef season in Dhofar saw an unprecedented turnout, with some sites welcoming between 400,000 to 800,000 visitors during the season. With over 150 activities implemented last year, ranging from artistic and cultural events to sports and entertainment, this year’s Khreef festival is expected to offer even more, with 180 events planned over 90 days. Visitors will have ample opportunities to explore the beauty of the governorate and enjoy a wide range of activities and events.

The Ajwaa Ashkharah forum, held in the Al Ashkharah Public Park, aims to provide visitors with a mix of entertainment, knowledge, and marketing opportunities. The event features a variety of activities, including kite flying displays, paragliding, traditional competitions, and performances such as horse shows and marine competitions. Interactive competitions, plays, poetry, artistic evenings, and workshops are also part of the lineup. Sports enthusiasts can participate in beach soccer, beach volleyball, bicycle racing, car challenges, and cricket tournaments. With activities catering to every interest, the forum ensures that attendees have an enriching and enjoyable experience.

Overall, the festivals in Muscat during July offer a unique opportunity to explore the diverse cultural, heritage, and natural offerings of Oman. From the Rummana Festival in Al Jabal Al Akhdar to the Dhofar Khareef Festival in the Dhofar Governorate and the Ajwaa Ashkharah forum in South Al Sharqiyah Governorate, visitors have a chance to immerse themselves in a rich tapestry of experiences. Whether interested in exploring agricultural traditions, enjoying traditional competitions, or simply taking in the beauty of the region, these festivals provide a platform for both locals and tourists to come together and celebrate Oman’s unique heritage.
