The State of Qatar and the Republic of Poland are set to enhance their bilateral relations during a visit by HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to Poland. The Qatar Ambassador to Poland, HE Saud bin Abdullah Zaid Al Mahmoud, expressed that the visit would strengthen cooperation between the two countries in various fields. Poland views the import of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Qatar as crucial for its national security, especially given the current regional conditions. The discussions will also focus on joint investment opportunities, with Qatari companies already investing in Poland and vice versa.

Furthermore, the tourism industry is a key area of cooperation between Qatar and Poland. Qatar has become a popular destination for Polish citizens, particularly after hosting the 2022 World Cup. The number of Arab tourists, including Qataris, visiting the Polish city of Zakopane has been on the rise, prompting consultations between Krakow Airport and Qatar Airways for direct flights between Doha and Krakow. The Qatar Ambassador highlighted that the relations between the two countries are strong, with shared views on various international issues.

The humanitarian role of Qatar has also been appreciated by Poland, with Qatar providing aid to Ukraine and playing a role in reuniting Ukrainian children from Russia with their families. Qatar and Poland have numerous agreements and memoranda of understanding in military, cultural, economic, commercial, and tourism fields, as well as in air services. The trade exchange volume between the two countries in 2023 reached about QAR 4.8 billion, with Qatari exports to Poland mainly consisting of LNG, and Polish exports to Qatar totaling about QAR 897 million.

HE Saud bin Abdullah Zaid Al Mahmoud emphasized that strengthening mutual investments would further enhance cooperation between Qatar and Poland. Qatar is seen as a politically stable country with significant economic potential, making it a gateway for Polish products in the region. On the other hand, Poland’s strategic location in the heart of Europe, its political and economic stability, and its investor-friendly policies, such as tax exemptions and free economic zones, make it an attractive destination for foreign investors. This favorable investment environment positions Poland as an ideal partner for Qatar to further expand cooperation.

In conclusion, the visit of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to Poland is expected to have a positive impact on bilateral relations between Qatar and Poland. Both countries are keen to strengthen their cooperation in various fields, including energy, investment, and tourism. The existing agreements and memoranda of understanding between Qatar and Poland, coupled with their shared views on international issues, provide a solid foundation for further collaboration. By enhancing mutual investments and leveraging each other’s strengths, Qatar and Poland can continue to deepen their ties and promote economic growth and development for the benefit of both nations.
