With only three weeks remaining until the 2024 Olympic Men’s Golf Competition kicks off in France, Dubai resident and DP World Ambassador Tommy Fleetwood is excited to represent Great Britain in his second Olympics. Fleetwood, currently ranked 11th in the Official World Golf Ranking and third on the Race to Dubai, will be competing alongside Matt Fitzpatrick. At the previous Olympics in Tokyo, Fleetwood finished tied 16th on 11 under par, just four shots off the Bronze Medal score.

Reflecting on his experience in Tokyo, Fleetwood expressed his excitement at the opportunity to represent GB again. Despite not getting the full Olympic experience due to the COVID-19 restrictions, Fleetwood enjoyed being in the Olympic Village and soaking in the atmosphere of the Games. He highlighted the unique experience of being surrounded by athletes who had dedicated themselves to their sport for years in preparation for the Olympics.

Fleetwood described the upcoming Olympic venue at Le Golf National in Paris as an exceptional golf course that will test every aspect of the players’ game. Having hosted numerous French Opens and the 2018 Ryder Cup, the course is expected to provide a challenging yet rewarding setting for the Olympic Men’s Golf Competition. With a field of 60 players competing in a 72-hole individual strokeplay format, the event promises to showcase the best of golf on the Olympic stage.

The Olympic Men’s Golf Competition is scheduled to take place from Thursday 1st to Sunday 4th August 2024, offering players the opportunity to compete for the coveted Gold Medal in golf. This will be the third time that golf has been played at the Olympics since its return to the games in Rio de Janeiro in 2016. In the previous editions, Gold Medals for men were clinched by Justin Rose (GB) in 2016 and Xander Schauffler (US) in 2020 in Tokyo.

As Fleetwood gears up for his second Olympic appearance, he is focused on making the most of the opportunity to represent Great Britain on the international stage. With his sights set on a podium finish and another shot at contending for a medal, Fleetwood is looking forward to the challenge that awaits him in Paris. The Olympic Men’s Golf Competition will not only test the skills and resilience of the players but also provide a platform for golf to shine on the global stage.
