The General Department of Human Rights at Dubai Police recently launched an initiative called Soqia, which means ‘water aid’ in Arabic, to distribute cold water and juice to over 600 workers in Dubai. The goal of the initiative is to provide relief from the summer heat and promote values of compassion and generosity within the community. Major Hamad Al Shamsi, Head of the Workers’ Rights Section at the department, emphasized that this initiative is part of their efforts to foster a sense of brotherhood and humanity by supporting and assisting others in need. With the rising temperatures in the UAE, various initiatives have been launched to help those working outside, including health checkups, rest stations, free ice cream, and mandatory mid-day breaks.

In addition to the Soqia initiative, other organizations in the UAE are also stepping up to support those affected by the summer heat. Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) recently launched the Water Aid Initiative, which aims to provide support to underprivileged families, laborers, and individuals engaged in strenuous work during the hot summer months. Locally, the initiative includes health checkups and the distribution of umbrellas and water containers. Internationally, ERC plans to drill wells, provide water tanks, and install atmospheric water generators to ensure access to clean drinking water for those in need. These efforts are part of a larger commitment to addressing the challenges posed by extreme heat and ensuring the well-being of vulnerable populations.

As part of its community programs, the General Department of Human Rights at Dubai Police is actively involved in initiatives that promote social welfare and enhance the quality of life for residents in the emirate. In addition to providing assistance to workers in need, the department works to cultivate a culture of empathy and support within the Dubai community. The Soqia initiative is just one example of their efforts to address pressing social issues and improve the overall well-being of individuals living and working in the UAE. By partnering with other organizations and government entities, the department is able to leverage resources and expertise to deliver impactful programs that make a difference in people’s lives.

The launch of the Soqia initiative is timely, given the extreme temperatures that are common in the UAE during the summer months. Workers who are exposed to the heat for extended periods of time are particularly vulnerable to heat-related illnesses and dehydration. By providing access to cold water and juice, the initiative helps to alleviate some of the risks associated with working in hot conditions. In addition to physical support, the initiative also underscores the importance of compassion and solidarity in the face of challenges. By coming together to support those in need, the Dubai community demonstrates its commitment to caring for all members, especially those who may be more vulnerable or marginalized.

As part of its ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of life for residents in the UAE, the General Department of Human Rights at Dubai Police continues to explore new ways to address social issues and promote inclusivity. By launching initiatives like Soqia, the department reinforces the importance of empathy, generosity, and community support. Through partnerships with other organizations and government agencies, the department is able to expand its impact and reach a wider audience. As the UAE faces the challenges of extreme heat and its impact on vulnerable populations, these initiatives play a crucial role in ensuring that everyone has access to the resources and support they need to stay healthy and safe during the summer months.

In conclusion, the Soqia initiative launched by the General Department of Human Rights at Dubai Police is a powerful example of how community organizations can come together to address pressing social issues and support vulnerable populations. By providing cold water and juice to workers in need, the initiative offers relief from the summer heat and promotes values of compassion and solidarity within the Dubai community. As the UAE continues to experience extreme temperatures during the summer months, initiatives like Soqia and the Water Aid Initiative by Emirates Red Crescent play a crucial role in ensuring the well-being of those most affected by the heat. Through collaboration and partnership, these organizations are able to make a meaningful impact and improve the quality of life for individuals living and working in the UAE.
