During the summer season in the UAE, temperatures have been soaring beyond 50 degrees Celsius, causing an increase in flat tires and blowouts on the roads. Many motorists have reported seeing drivers stranded on the side of the road changing their tires due to punctures. This issue has become more prevalent recently, with drivers having to deal with unexpected flat tires during their daily commutes.

One driver, Mohammed Akrami, witnessed nearly 20 drivers changing their tires on the roadside over the past few days in Deira. Cameroonian driver Robert Ndongo also had to fix a flat tire while on his way to deliver a corporate order. The high temperatures in the region have been identified as one of the factors contributing to an increase in tire blowouts.

According to experts like Mohammed Shareef and Basheer Padathakayi, the heat causes the air inside tires to expand, leading to over-inflation and increased pressure on the tire walls. This makes the tires more vulnerable to blowouts, especially if they are already worn out or under-inflated. Additionally, the hot pavement can soften the tire rubber, making it more prone to punctures and damage from sharp objects.

In order to prevent tire blowouts during the summer months, experts recommend regular maintenance and inspection of tires. Drivers should ensure that their tires are inflated to the manufacturer’s recommended levels, especially in hot weather conditions. It is also important to check for signs of wear, cracks, or punctures and address any issues immediately. Regular maintenance of wheel alignment can help ensure even wear and extend the life of tires.

Older tires with weakened structures and less resilient rubber are more likely to fail in extreme heat, so it is essential to replace them before they become a safety hazard. In Dubai and Abu Dhabi, tires should not be more than two years old, as vehicles with older tires will not be registered. It is also important to avoid exceeding the weight capacity of the vehicle and to park in shaded areas or on cooler surfaces to reduce exposure to extreme heat.

In conclusion, the summer heat in the UAE can lead to an increase in tire blowouts on the roads. By following the recommendations of experts and ensuring proper maintenance of tires, drivers can reduce the risk of experiencing flat tires during the hot summer months. Regular inspection, inflation to recommended levels, and replacing old tires are key steps in maintaining tire safety and preventing blowouts on the road.
