Fatima Eljak, a 19-year-old Sudanese student, faced challenges in pursuing her dream of studying medicine due to a civil war in her country. However, with her father’s help, she managed to leave Sudan and arrived in Dubai. Despite the difficulties she faced, Fatima excelled in her A-Level exams at GEMS The Westminster School – Dubai, achieving three A* grades in biology, chemistry, and mathematics. She is now set to study medicine in Bucharest, Romania.

Fatima expressed her pride in her achievements, emphasizing the hard work she put in to attain her excellent results. She reflected on the turbulent times in Sudan a year ago, when she feared her dream of becoming a doctor would not materialize. Despite the challenges, Fatima’s determination and support from her family, teachers, and friends enabled her to overcome obstacles and pursue her passion for medicine.

Returning to school after being stuck in Sudan presented its own set of challenges for Fatima, as she felt behind in her studies and worried about her academic performance. However, her father’s encouragement and the support from her school community played a crucial role in her success. Fatima’s perseverance and resilience in the face of adversity serve as a testament to her dedication to achieving her goals.

Looking towards the future, Fatima aspires to become a neurosurgeon and hopes to make her family proud through her accomplishments. Despite the six-year training ahead of her, she remains steadfast in her determination to fulfill her dream. Fatima expresses gratitude towards those who have supported her and guided her along the way, underscoring the importance of having a strong support system in pursuing one’s aspirations.

GEMS Education celebrated a significant milestone this year, with 1,883 students from 22 schools in the UAE and Qatar completing a record number of A-level exams. The impressive results saw 26% of exam entries achieving A to A grades, while 52% secured A to B grades. Fatima’s success is not only a testament to her hard work but also reflects the academic excellence fostered within the GEMS Education network, highlighting the institution’s commitment to nurturing and supporting students in their educational endeavors.

In conclusion, Fatima Eljak’s journey serves as an inspiring tale of resilience, determination, and perseverance in the face of adversity. Her remarkable accomplishments in the midst of challenging circumstances showcase the transformative power of education and the value of unwavering commitment to one’s goals. As Fatima embarks on her journey towards becoming a neurosurgeon, her story stands as a beacon of hope and inspiration for aspiring students and individuals striving to overcome obstacles and achieve their dreams.
