The Ministry of Education in Muscat recently held a ceremony to honour outstanding students of the General Education Diploma for the academic year 2023/2024. The event was graced by Sultan bin Salim Al Habsi, Minister of Finance, and Dr. Madiha bint Ahmed Al Shaibaniyah, Minister of Education, along with other dignitaries, Undersecretaries, teachers, and parents of the honoured students. Held at the Grand Events Hall at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Center, the ceremony included speeches from Ministry officials, highlighting the importance of recognizing the achievements of the students in their academic pursuits.

Dr. Abdullah bin Khamis Ambosaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education, emphasized the significance of the students’ accomplishments and commended them for their dedication and hard work. He also underscored the importance of fostering a strong partnership between the government and private sectors to continue supporting the education system and grooming future generations. The ceremony received generous support from Occidental Oman Company, demonstrating a successful partnership aimed at empowering the youth of the country.

Nasser Al Maskari, Director of Social Responsibility at Occidental Oman, reiterated the company’s commitment to investing in education as a sustainable strategy with a positive impact on society. The sponsorship of the ceremony honoring outstanding students holding a general diploma is part of a long-standing partnership with the Ministry of Education to enhance the education system in the Sultanate. The collaborative efforts between the public and private sectors aim to create opportunities and drive development in the country.

During the ceremony, students Abdul Aziz Al Zadjali and Elaf Al Darmaki expressed their gratitude and determination to continue pursuing knowledge and achieving their dreams. They acknowledged the support and guidance they received from their families, teachers, and school administrations in reaching this milestone. The students spoke of their aspirations to contribute to the vision for their country, Oman, by striving for progress, advancement, and cultural excellence.

The event also featured performances by students, including a national anthem rendition by students from the Directorate-General of Education in Muscat. A visual presentation showcased various programs and initiatives aimed at enhancing language learning opportunities for students, such as the Chinese Language Bridge Programme, the Summer Programme for Learning German, and the French Language Programme. These programs underscore the Ministry’s commitment to providing diverse educational experiences to students.

In conclusion, the ceremony concluded with the Minister of Finance presenting awards to the outstanding students, marking a celebratory moment that highlighted their achievements and dedication. Commemorative photos were taken to capture the special occasion, celebrating the students’ hard work and success. The event served as a reminder of the importance of recognizing and supporting students in their educational journey, ultimately contributing to the growth and development of the education system and the nation as a whole.
