UNICEF’s Deputy Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa, Marc Rubin, is currently in Oman for high-level discussions with government officials and participation in the UNICEF regional Health and Nutrition Network meetings. The meetings will focus on critical issues such as child health, nutrition, climate change, protection, and strengthening evidence through data. The aim is to enhance collaborative efforts with the Omani government to ensure that children in Oman continue to thrive.

During his visit, Rubin will engage with key officials from various ministries, the National Center for Statistics and Information, the Environment Authority, and the Social Protection Fund. Meetings will also be held with the World Health Organization and other partners to reinforce the partnership between UNICEF and the Omani government. The Deputy Director will also participate in the regional Health and Nutrition Network meetings, where experts, policymakers, and stakeholders will discuss best practices, innovative solutions, and strategies to improve child health and nutrition outcomes in the MENA region.

Over 70 regional health and nutrition experts will visit health centers in Muscat during the meetings to observe advancements in services and health interventions designed to accelerate health outcomes for children. Rubin’s participation highlights UNICEF’s dedication to fostering regional cooperation and knowledge exchange to address pressing health challenges. He expressed optimism about the visit, stating that he is honored to engage with government partners and regional colleagues to ensure every child in the region has the opportunity to grow up healthy, educated, and protected.

This visit reaffirms UNICEF’s commitment to collaborating with the Omani government and regional partners to advance the rights and well-being of children. Through these efforts, UNICEF aims to contribute to a brighter future for all children in Oman and the broader region. The discussions and meetings in Oman aim to strengthen the partnership between UNICEF and the Omani government to tackle critical issues affecting children’s health and well-being. By sharing best practices and innovative solutions, stakeholders hope to improve child health and nutrition outcomes in the MENA region.
