The Almond Festival in Budaiya Botanical Garden concluded after three successful days, drawing a significant crowd of locals, residents, and visitors from the GCC region. The event, which highlighted the cultural significance of Bahraini almonds, was officially opened by Dr. Khaled Ahmed Hassan, Undersecretary of Agriculture and Animal Resources Affairs. Emphasizing the importance of promoting Bahraini products and supporting local farmers, the festival aimed to showcase the country’s agricultural diversity.

The festival, now in its second year, featured various activities for all age groups and garnered a strong turnout on its opening day. Mohammed Mirza Hassan Al-Aribi, Assistant Undersecretary for Agricultural Affairs, underscored the event’s impact on encouraging farmers to enhance production and introduce new almond varieties. The Ministry, along with the National Initiative for Agricultural Sector Development, is dedicated to fostering local agriculture through initiatives like the Almond Festival.

As a platform for Bahraini farmers to showcase their products, the festival also aimed to educate visitors on almond cultivation techniques, varieties, and processing industries. Thirteen farmers, four productive families, and five nurseries participated in this year’s event, displaying almond seedlings, fruit varieties, and engaging children’s activities. The Ministry plans to plant 1,000 almond seedlings across Bahrain’s governorates to further promote agricultural sustainability.

The Almond Festival served as a hub for promoting local agriculture, encouraging farmers to diversify their production and introduce new varieties. It also aimed to educate the public on the importance of agricultural preservation and sustainability. With displays of almond seedlings, fruit varieties, and processing industries, the festival provided a comprehensive view of Bahrain’s almond industry and its potential for growth.

Through collaborations with key stakeholders, the Ministry remains committed to supporting local farmers and promoting Bahraini products. The Almond Festival’s success in attracting a diverse audience and encouraging agricultural diversity reflects the country’s efforts to boost its farming sector. By providing a platform for farmers to showcase their products and educate the public, the event contributes to the overall growth and sustainability of Bahrain’s agriculture industry.

In conclusion, the Almond Festival in Budaiya Botanical Garden was a successful event that highlighted the importance of Bahraini almonds and local agriculture. With a focus on promoting agricultural diversity, supporting farmers, and educating the public, the festival played a significant role in enhancing the country’s farming sector. The Ministry’s ongoing efforts to support local agriculture, along with collaborations with various stakeholders, underscore its commitment to promoting sustainability and growth in Bahrain’s agricultural industry.
