Al Wakra Municipality in Doha, Qatar recently carried out a thorough inspection and awareness campaign targeting 62 food outlets in Barwa. The campaign, conducted by the Municipal Control Department, resulted in one violation report, one food outlet being shut down, and the distribution of 86 awareness QR code stickers. The main aim of the campaign was to enhance regulatory awareness among businesses and shops while ensuring compliance with municipal laws.

Dr. Nawal Mohamed Abdulla, Assistant Director of the Municipal Control Department, emphasized the importance of raising awareness about Law No. 18 of 2017 on public hygiene and Law No. 1 of 2012 on the Regulation and Control of the Placement of Advertising. The campaign focused on educating businesses about these laws and ensuring that they are being followed properly.

Salem Mohamed Al Hajri, Head of the general control section, mentioned that the campaign involved 19 inspection tours to ensure compliance with public hygiene and advertisement laws. QR code stickers were distributed during these tours, providing detailed information about the advertisement law and other relevant regulations. This initiative aimed to educate businesses and ensure that they are aware of the laws they need to comply with.

The focus of the inspection and awareness campaign was also on food safety, as mentioned by Hamad Ibrahim Al Sheikh, the head of the health control section. The campaign involved educating employees about food safety rules and regulations to ensure compliance and to protect the health of consumers. This reflects the municipality’s commitment to ensuring the highest standards of food safety in the area.

Moreover, Saeed Al Shawi, a senior building permit inspection expert, highlighted that the campaign also monitored adherence to the provisions of Law No. 4 of 1985 on the Organization of Buildings and its amendments. This aspect of the campaign aimed to promote urban planning and protect both public and private properties. By ensuring that buildings are constructed according to regulations, the municipality is working towards creating a safe and organized urban environment.
