The Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, Eng. Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, has recently issued seventeen decisions to acquire real estate in the Janabiya area. These acquisitions will support the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications and play a crucial role in advancing the planned Gulf railway and King Hamad Causeway project. This move signals progress and development in the region.

Following the announcement, the Secretariat General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) launched a tender in early June for specialized companies to study the operational plan for the GCC railway project. Interested parties can obtain specifications with submissions due by 7th July in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The tender envelopes will be opened a month later, indicating the increasing interest and investment in the project.

The expropriation decisions in Janabiya are part of a larger set of 137 decisions published in the Official Gazette on 27th June 2024. These decisions cover various regions in Bahrain, making it the largest number of expropriations announced by the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture this year. The focus is on development and urban renewal in different parts of the country.

Areas such as Ramli, Nuwaidrat, and Muharraq are seeing the highest number of expropriations for detailed planning and urban renewal projects. The main objective is to enhance connectivity and economic integration in the region. These acquisitions will pave the way for future infrastructure development and growth in Bahrain, creating opportunities for both local residents and businesses.

The acquisition of land in Janabiya demonstrates the momentum and potential of the railway and causeway project. It reaffirms the commitment of the Bahraini government to boosting regional connectivity and economic development. With the planned investments and acquisitions, Bahrain is on track to become a hub for transportation and telecommunications in the Gulf region, fostering growth and prosperity for its citizens.

Overall, the recent decisions made by the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture signify a significant step forward in Bahrain’s infrastructure development. The acquisitions in Janabiya and other regions show a commitment to growth and progress, aligning with the country’s vision for a connected and prosperous future. The Gulf railway and King Hamad Causeway project are set to transform Bahrain’s transportation sector and enhance its position as a key player in the region.
