New Academic Year Kickoff at Nizwa Branch of the University of Technology and Applied Sciences

The Nizwa Branch of the University of Technology and Applied Sciences welcomed a new cohort of students for the academic year 2023-2024 with an introductory program spanning five days. This initiative aims to prepare students for the transition to university life by familiarizing them with the systems, services, and academic opportunities available to them. The reception marks the beginning of the new academic year at the university, setting a positive tone for incoming students.

University Leadership Welcomes New Students

Dr. Saeed bin Hamad Al-Rubaie, President of the University of Technology and Applied Sciences, delivered a unified speech across all university branches to greet the new students. He emphasized the university as a second home that inspires students and equips them with the necessary skills to shape their futures. He expressed hopes for a rich academic journey characterized by success and excellence.

Guidance for Academic Success

Dr. Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maamari, Assistant President of the Nizwa Branch, also welcomed the new students, stressing that entering the university is not merely a shift from one educational stage to another. Instead, it marks a crucial phase in the formation of a student’s identity and capabilities while laying the foundation for their professional future. According to Al-Maamari, succeeding in a rapidly changing world requires more than just holding a university degree; it necessitates a graduate’s knowledge, skills, adaptability, and innovation potential.

He encouraged students to leverage the resources provided by the university, which include libraries, e-learning resources, laboratories, workshops, training programs, and extracurricular activities. Moreover, he highlighted the importance of participating in competitions, projects, and community service initiatives, along with developing digital skills and making responsible use of modern technologies and artificial intelligence.

Comprehensive Introductory Program

The introductory week at the Nizwa Branch includes a series of meetings and programs tailored for new students. Activities commence with a speech from the university president and include a multimedia presentation about the University of Technology and Applied Sciences. The agenda covers preparatory programs, academic guidance, the role of student advisory councils, student journeys, the process for opening bank accounts, and a program on entrepreneurship titled “From Idea to Leadership: Craft Your Innovative Future.”

The program also entails activating electronic services, conducting assessments for English language proficiency, mathematics, and computer skills, and opening bank accounts for both male and female students. These initiatives aim to ensure that students are well-informed about the academic environment and are adequately prepared to embark on their educational journey.

Building a Holistic Academic Experience

The introductory week serves as an initial step in the students’ university experience. The university strives to assist them in understanding the demands of their new academic phase while maximizing the opportunities and resources available to them. This will contribute to creating a well-rounded educational experience that integrates academic learning with skill development, creativity, and innovation.

As the new academic year unfolds, students are encouraged to immerse themselves fully in this vibrant learning atmosphere. Opportunities for engagement, growth, and success abound at the University of Technology and Applied Sciences, paving the way for them to become knowledgeable and confident individuals capable of competing effectively and contributing positively to society.

Moving forward, students and faculty will be looking ahead to the upcoming academic activities that will further enrich their educational journey. The anticipation is building for new projects, collaborations, and events that will take place throughout the academic year, making it an exciting time for all involved.
