Al Mirage and Al Wakrah secure top awards

H H Sheikh Abdullah bin Khalifa Al Thani praised Al Shaqab Racing for their outstanding performance at the H H Sheikh Abdullah bin Khalifa Al Thani Trophy Day at the Al Uqda Racecourse. The day was highlighted by the thrilling victories of Al Mirage and Al Wakrah in prestigious races. Al Mirage, ridden by Faleh Bughanaim, secured a nose win over Arman in the 1400m Local Purebred Arabian contest, claiming the H H Sheikh Abdullah Bin Khalifa Al Thani Trophy. This marked the conclusion of a successful meeting that featured nine high-profile races.

In another impressive performance, Al Wakrah, guided by Olivier d’Andigne, dominated the H H Sheikh Abdullah Bin Khalifa Al Thani Cup. The bay finished two lengths ahead of Jabalah in the 1400m Purebred Arabian Race, showcasing speed and skill. Both Al Mirage and Al Wakrah, trained by Jean de Mieulle, received accolades from H H Sheikh Abdullah bin Khalifa Al Thani for their victories. The victories of these horses added to the excitement of the day’s events.

The Majd Al Arab Sprinter Championship was won by lasad, owned by Abdulla bin Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Attiya, in the Purebred Arabian (Class 1 Gr3) International Race. Alberto Sanna rode the Ahmed Kobeissi-trained lasad to a one and a half length victory, showcasing exceptional talent. Additionally, the Sheikh Abdullah Bin Khalifa Al Thani Silver Cup was clinched by Hamad Al Jehani-trained Hamas La Gloire, who led from start to finish in the 1400m Purebred Arabian (Class 2) race, claiming an impressive quarter length win.

Bolthole of Wathnan Racing delivered a remarkable performance to secure his second consecutive Umm Qarn Trophy in the 2100m Thoroughbred Open Race (Class 2). Trained by Alban de Mieulle, the six-year-old showed exceptional skill under jockey James Doyle, staging a notable comeback for a quarter-length victory. The consistency and talent displayed by Bolthole were commendable, earning him trophies and recognition from Sheail bin Khalifa Al Kuwari for the stellar performance.

In the 1400m Local Thoroughbred Open Race (Class 2), Harb, trained by Ibrahim Saeed Al Malki, emerged victorious in the French King Cup by a neck under jockey Tomas Lukasek. The thrilling victory was celebrated and honoured by Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Bosnia and Herzegovina H E Meshaal bin Ali Al Attiyah. Additionally, the Yasmeen Cup was claimed by Nibras Racing Syndicate after Abdulla Al Mulla-trained Garden Route secured a two short heads victory in the 2100m Thoroughbred Handicap, showcasing speed and determination in a dramatic finish.

Overall, the H H Sheikh Abdullah bin Khalifa Al Thani Trophy Day at the Al Uqda Racecourse was a success, featuring exceptional performances by both horses and jockeys. The thrilling races and tight finishes added to the excitement of the day’s events, with Al Shaqab Racing receiving praise and recognition for their exceptional performances. Jockeys and trainers showcased their talent and skill in the various races, leaving a lasting impression on the spectators and participants alike.
