The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) in Qatar recently organized the 3rd orientation meeting for Qatari students who have been awarded scholarships to study in universities in the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Europe for the academic year 2024-2025. During the meeting, Dr. Harib Mohamed Al Jabri, the Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Higher Education Affairs at MoEHE, congratulated the students on their acceptance into the government scholarship program and emphasized that their success is a result of years of hard work and dedication. Dr. Al Jabri provided the students with tips and guidelines, stressing the importance of hard work, commitment, and setting ambitious goals for themselves. He also encouraged the students to maintain their religious values and national identity as representatives of Qatar abroad, while also balancing self-development with their priorities and responsibilities.

Acting Director of the Scholarships Department at MoEHE, Noura Al Ansari, discussed scholarship procedures, financial and academic matters, and the rights and responsibilities of scholarship students during the meeting. She highlighted the importance of strong communication channels between students, the Scholarships Department, and the Cultural Attache. Al Ansari also emphasized the need for students to uphold their religious and national identity, abide by host country laws and university rules, and overcome challenges in order to excel academically. The Cultural Attache at the Embassy of Qatar to the United Kingdom, Fahad Al Kuwari, provided insight into the Attache’s role in supporting students during their studies, offering guidance, counseling, and academic supervision until graduation. He advised students to stay in touch with their families and the Attache, behave responsibly, understand host country laws, and adhere to rules and guidelines while studying.

Salama Al Kuwari from the Scholarships Department at MoEHE reviewed the procedures for activating the scholarship, including pre-travel procedures, arrival procedures, and options for changing universities, freezing or extending the scholarship, or withdrawing from it. Additionally, a representative from Qatar Airways informed the students about the benefits they are entitled to as scholarship recipients. The orientation meeting served as a valuable platform for the students to receive important information, guidance, and advice to help them navigate their academic journey abroad successfully. It also highlighted the importance of staying connected with their families, maintaining their cultural identity, and demonstrating exemplary behavior while studying overseas.

In conclusion, the orientation meeting for Qatari students on scholarship to study in the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Europe for the academic year 2024-2025 provided students with valuable insights and guidance to help them succeed in their academic endeavors abroad. The speakers at the meeting emphasized the importance of hard work, commitment, and setting goals, while also stressing the significance of maintaining religious values and national identity. The role of the Scholarships Department, Cultural Attache, and other support services in helping students navigate their academic journey was also highlighted. Overall, the orientation meeting served as a stepping stone for the students as they prepare for their studies in foreign universities, offering them the necessary tools and information to thrive academically and personally.
