The Embassy of Bangladesh in Bahrain recently conducted a Summer Awareness Program for Bangladeshi workers in collaboration with local authorities. The program aimed to educate workers on health and safety guidelines, especially during the hot summer months. Chargé d’Affaires a.i. Mr. Kayes emphasized the importance of maintaining health, staying hydrated, and avoiding working under the sun. The event also featured speeches from officials from the Ministry of Labour and the LMRA, highlighting the importance of adhering to safety measures at construction sites.

During the program, Mr. Kayes stressed the workers’ role as the main source of income for their families back home, underscoring the need for them to prioritize their health and safety. The Head of the Ministry of Labour’s Awareness and Guidance Department, Mr. Al-Hussaini, also emphasized the importance of staying hydrated and following safety guidelines while working. He reminded workers of the ban on working under direct sunlight during certain hours in the hot summer months and encouraged them to report any violations to the Ministry of Labour.

The event concluded with the distribution of thermos flasks, juice, lunch meals, and free medical care coupons for Bangladeshi expats in Bahrain. Mr. Kayes pledged to continue organizing such awareness programs in the future to ensure the well-being of Bangladeshi workers in the country. The collaboration between the Embassy of Bangladesh, local authorities, and international organizations like the IOM highlights the commitment to safeguarding the health and safety of migrant workers in Bahrain.

The program’s focus on health and safety reflects the growing awareness of the challenges faced by migrant workers, particularly in demanding industries like construction. By providing practical guidance and resources to workers, the event aimed to empower them to prioritize their well-being and report any violations of their rights. The distribution of free medical care coupons further demonstrates the commitment to supporting the health needs of the Bangladeshi expat community in Bahrain.

The collaboration between the Embassy of Bangladesh, the Ministry of Labour, the LMRA, and the IOM underscores the importance of a multi-stakeholder approach to addressing the needs of migrant workers. By working together, these organizations can leverage their expertise and resources to create a safer and more supportive environment for workers. The success of the Summer Awareness Program highlights the positive impact of such initiatives in promoting the health, safety, and well-being of migrant workers in Bahrain.

Overall, the Summer Awareness Program organized by the Embassy of Bangladesh in Bahrain serves as a valuable initiative to educate and support Bangladeshi workers in the country. By focusing on health and safety guidelines, providing practical resources, and fostering collaboration between key stakeholders, the program aims to improve the overall well-being of migrant workers. Moving forward, continued efforts to raise awareness and advocate for the rights of migrant workers will be essential in creating a more inclusive and supportive environment for all individuals in the workforce.
