The Bahrain Future Society for Youth has launched the eleventh edition of its “Smile” initiative, which aims to provide psychosocial support to children with cancer and their parents in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The initiative has announced the “Kids R Gold” awareness campaign as part of its efforts to raise awareness about childhood cancer in the community. The campaign will be inaugurated by His Excellency Lieutenant General Doctor Sheikh Mohamed Bin Abdullah Al-Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Health, at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland – Medical University of Bahrain on August 29th.

This year, the theme of the campaign is “Children’s Cancer is Curable”, in alignment with September being dedicated to raising awareness about childhood cancer. The event will honor over 40 children who have successfully overcome the disease and will feature distinguished figures from various sectors. Mr. Sabah Al Zayani, Chairman of the Future Society for Youth, highlighted the importance of supporting children with cancer and their families through this campaign. He emphasized the collaboration between civil society, the private sector, and government agencies to provide moral and material support to children battling cancer.

Mr. Al Zayani stated that the aim of the campaign is to raise community awareness about childhood cancer and emphasize that it is a curable disease with early detection, adherence to treatment, and consistent medical follow-up. He mentioned that there will be new events organized throughout September to reflect a decade of dedication and success from previous campaigns. The support of His Excellency Lieutenant General Doctor Sheikh Mohamed Bin Abdullah Al-Khalifa and the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland – Medical University of Bahrain in launching the eleventh edition of the campaign was acknowledged and appreciated by Mr. Al Zayani.

The “Kids R Gold 11” campaign is a collaborative effort to provide both moral and material support to children with cancer to help them through the challenging journey of battling the disease. It symbolizes the dedication and success of previous campaigns in supporting children with cancer and their families. The innovative ideas and new identity of this year’s campaign aim to make it a distinctive edition that raises awareness about childhood cancer in the Bahraini community.

The campaign launch ceremony will be hosted at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland – Medical University of Bahrain, with the presence of distinguished figures and supporters of the initiative. The positive engagement and generous patronage of His Excellency Lieutenant General Doctor Sheikh Mohamed Bin Abdullah Al-Khalifa in launching the campaign were highlighted as crucial in providing necessary support to sick children and enhancing the humanitarian spirit of the Kingdom. The management of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland – Medical University of Bahrain was also thanked for graciously hosting the launch ceremony and supporting the initiative.
