The Environment Authority (EA) in Muscat has launched a campaign to plant 10,000 wild trees in Dhofar Governorate in partnership with various public, private, and civil sector institutions. The goal of the campaign is part of a larger project to plant and distribute 60,000 wild trees in the area. Hatem bin Salem Al Mahri, head of the Natural Reserves Department in the Directorate, stated that the campaign will involve planting 500 frankincense trees in Raysut in the Wilayat of Salalah and an additional 9,500 wild trees in the Wilayat of Rakhyut. These trees will include species such as Wild fig, aloe vera, and sidr.
The campaign aligns with the plans and programmes approved by the Environment Authority for the year, focusing on preserving local plants, natural resources, and increasing vegetation cover in natural and pastoral areas in the Dhofar Governorate. This initiative coincides with the national goal of planting 10 million trees.
