Labour Minister engages with participating counterparts in Doha Dialogue on labour mobility

The Doha Dialogue on labour mobility between the Gulf states and African countries held in Doha on May 21-22 saw the participation of 33 countries, including representatives from the Gulf Cooperation Council states, Jordan, Lebanon, and 25 African countries. Minister of Labour HE Dr. Ali bin Samikh Al Marri met with several of his counterparts during the event to discuss cooperative relationships in the labour sector and ways to enhance and develop them.

One of the key meetings was with Minister of Labour of the Republic of Lebanon HE Dr. Mustafa Hussein Biriem, Minister of Manpower of the Arab Republic of Egypt HE Hassan Mohammed Hassan Shehata, Minister of Labour, Youth, Employment, and Persons with Disabilities of the Republic of Tanzania HE Deogratius Yohana, Minister of Labour of the Republic of Djibouti HE Omar Amad Saeed, Minister of Labour and Rehabilitation of Libya HE Ali Al Abd Al Razzaq Abu Azzoum, Minister of Economic Integration, Micro-Enterprise, Employment, and Skills of the Kingdom of Morocco HE Younes Sekkouri Yehsou, and Minister of Labour of South Sudan HE James Hoth Mai. These meetings aimed to strengthen relationships and cooperation in the labour sector between these countries.

Discussions during the meetings focused on ways to enhance and develop cooperative relationships in the labour sector between the Gulf states and African countries. The participating ministers exchanged ideas on how to collaborate effectively to address common challenges and promote labour mobility between the two regions. This dialogue aimed to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and best practices in the field of labour and employment.

It is essential for countries to work together to address issues related to labour mobility, employment, and skills development. By strengthening relationships and cooperation in the labour sector, countries can create opportunities for their citizens and promote economic growth. These meetings provided a platform for ministers to discuss strategies and initiatives that can further enhance labour mobility between the Gulf states and African countries.
