The aftermath of the record rains and subsequent flooding in April left many UAE residents struggling with damaged cars. Three months later, some are still awaiting repairs as garages are overwhelmed with the number of vehicles needing maintenance. Comprehensive insurance plans covered damages under the natural catastrophe coverage, but those with third-party insurance had to pay for repairs out of pocket. The delay in insurance approvals and spare parts availability has disrupted the routines of many families, leaving them without functioning vehicles.

Residents like Osama Abdul Jaber and Hind shared their experiences of the challenges they faced with their damaged vehicles. Jaber’s family had to wait a month for insurance approval and spare parts, while Hind’s car remains parked in an industrial area due to engine damage. The shortage of spare parts has further complicated the situation, with many cars yet to be repaired. Favas EM, managing director at Al Asli Auto Maintenance, explained the shortage of spare parts and the high cost of replacing electrical parts in certain vehicles.

The shortage of essential spare parts has created increased demand with limited supply, especially in areas like Jebel Ali, where warehouses were affected by the flooding. Many residents are struggling to find affordable solutions to repair their damaged vehicles, with some forced to sell their cars at low prices due to the cost of replacing entire electrical systems. The aftermath of the flooding has disrupted the daily routines of many residents, forcing them to rely on services like Uber for their daily commute, leading to increased costs and inconvenience.

The delay in repairs and spare parts availability has left many residents in a difficult position, trying to balance the need for a functional vehicle with the high cost of repairs. The insurance process has added to the challenges faced by those with damaged cars, further disrupting their routines and mobility. The impact of the flooding on vehicles and their owners is still being felt months later, with many still awaiting repairs and struggling to find affordable solutions to get their cars back on the road. The shortage of spare parts continues to be a significant issue, affecting repair timelines and adding to the frustration of residents dealing with the aftermath of the flooding.
