The recent fee increase introduced by schools has been allocated towards various infrastructure improvements, specifically carried out during the summer break. School leaders from different emirates emphasized that the two-month summer vacation is the ideal period for renovating school facilities. Students returned to upgraded school facilities like smart classrooms, laboratories, libraries, and enhanced ICT, sports, and recreational amenities after their vacation. Private schools in Dubai were allowed to increase their fees by up to 5.2 percent this year, based on their performance in the KHDA annual inspections.

In addition to infrastructure upgrades, the resources from the fee hike have also been utilized for faculty training. Principals highlighted the importance of teacher development, ensuring that students benefit not only from state-of-the-art facilities but also from highly skilled educators continuously developing their craft. Investments in teacher development and student programs aim to maximize the educational experience and support students’ academic and personal growth. Schools have recently upgraded facilities like robotics and STEAM rooms, reception areas, prayer rooms, and sports amenities to enhance the overall learning experience for students.

Some school heads mentioned that fee increases primarily go towards teacher salaries. Simon Herbert, Head of School/CEO at GEMS International School – Al Khail, emphasized the importance of maintaining high standards in schools and ensuring that enhancements reflect the school’s strategy, vision, and mission. Parents and families visiting the schools for the new academic year were impressed by the upgraded lobby, reception, finance, and admissions areas. The introduction of new facilities like the Primary Inclusion Centre, increased arts rooms, a Senior Hub for Grade 11 and 12 students, and a sports hall, have further enhanced the school environment.

In conclusion, the fee increase introduced by schools has been instrumental in funding infrastructure upgrades, teacher development, and enhancing the overall learning environment for students. Schools have utilized these resources to upgrade facilities and introduce new amenities, ensuring that students have access to state-of-the-art resources and highly skilled educators. The emphasis on maintaining high standards and continuously improving school facilities reflects the commitment of schools to provide a quality education to their students. Parents and families have appreciated the efforts made to enhance school facilities, creating a positive and conducive learning environment for students. Moving forward, schools will continue to prioritize infrastructure improvements and teacher development to support student growth and success.
