Muscat: Eng. Said Hamoud Al Maawali, Minister of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology, had a meeting with Arsenio Domínguez, Secretary General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) at his office. The two sides also touched upon various matters of mutual interest during their discussions. Eng. Khamis Mohammed Al Shamakhi, Undersecretary of Transport, and several officials from both sides were also present at the meeting.

One of the main points of discussion during the meeting was the collaboration between Oman and the IMO in the field of transport. The Minister and the Secretary General explored ways in which they can work together to enhance the transportation infrastructure in the country. This collaboration can lead to improvements in efficiency, safety, and sustainability in the transport sector. By working together, Oman and the IMO can pave the way for a more connected and efficient transportation network in the region.

Logistics was another important topic that was discussed during the meeting. The two sides exchanged ideas on how to streamline logistics processes and optimize supply chain management. By improving logistics efficiency, businesses in Oman can benefit from cost savings and faster delivery times. This collaboration can also help attract foreign investment and boost the country’s economy. The Minister and the Secretary General discussed potential projects and initiatives that can be implemented to enhance logistics capabilities in Oman.

Maritime affairs were also on the agenda during the meeting. The Minister and the Secretary General discussed ways in which they can work together to promote maritime safety and security in the region. By cooperating on maritime affairs, Oman and the IMO can ensure that international shipping standards are upheld and that environmental regulations are enforced. This collaboration can lead to a safer and more sustainable maritime environment for all stakeholders involved. The two sides also discussed potential training programs and capacity-building initiatives to enhance the skills and knowledge of maritime professionals in Oman.

Overall, the meeting between the Minister of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology and the Secretary General of the International Maritime Organization was productive and fruitful. The discussions on transport, logistics, and maritime affairs highlighted the potential for collaboration between Oman and the IMO in improving the country’s transportation infrastructure, streamlining logistics processes, and promoting maritime safety and security.
