Government Hospitals in Bahrain have recently introduced a fellowship programme for the years 2024 and 2025. This programme has been developed in collaboration with the Supreme Council of Health and the Labour Fund “Tamkeen” with the aim of training Bahraini doctors in specialized fields. Dr. Mariam Al-Jalahma, the Chief Executive of the Government Hospitals, has emphasized the importance of investing in national human capital through a comprehensive training plan for doctors.

The fellowship programme is designed to enhance doctors’ proficiency and equip them with the necessary skills to keep up with the latest advancements in the medical field. Dr. Al-Jalahma highlighted that this initiative is part of the ongoing joint efforts between the Supreme Council of Health and “Tamkeen”. It is part of a larger framework of initiatives and programmes that are focused on advancing and training national personnel in the health sector.

Last June, over 700 Bahrainis, including doctors and nurses, were announced to benefit from five key initiatives aimed at supporting and training them in various medical specialities. The fellowship programme covers training programmes in specialities such as anaesthesia, orthopaedics, cardiology, haematology, nephrology, ophthalmology, psychiatry, surgery, radiology, ENT, emergency medicine, and more. This demonstrates the commitment of the Government Hospitals to continuously developing and nurturing local talent in the healthcare sector.

The introduction of the fellowship programme reflects the Government Hospitals’ dedication to fostering the professional growth of Bahraini doctors. By providing them with opportunities for specialized training and skill development, the programme aims to enhance the quality of healthcare services in the country. The strong partnership between the Supreme Council of Health and “Tamkeen” underscores the collaborative approach taken to address the training needs of medical professionals.

Through the fellowship programme, Bahraini doctors will have access to training in various medical specialities, enabling them to gain expertise in specific areas of healthcare. This will not only benefit the individual doctors but also contribute to the overall improvement of healthcare services in Bahrain. The commitment to supporting national healthcare personnel through targeted training initiatives demonstrates a long-term vision for building a skilled and knowledgeable workforce in the medical field.

In conclusion, the fellowship programme introduced by Government Hospitals in Bahrain is a significant step towards investing in the development of national human capital in the healthcare sector. By providing specialized training opportunities for Bahraini doctors, the programme aims to enhance their skills and knowledge in specific medical specialities. Through collaboration with key stakeholders such as the Supreme Council of Health and “Tamkeen”, the programme is set to support hundreds of Bahrainis in advancing their careers in healthcare. This initiative underscores the commitment of Government Hospitals to nurturing local talent and improving healthcare services in the country.
