The National Ageing Survey in Qatar, conducted by the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH), the National Planning Council, and Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), has officially started. The survey aims to gather crucial information on the health and needs of individuals aged 60 and above through home visits to a sample of 1,808 citizens and residents. Dr Hanadi Al Hamad, Head of the National Ageing Survey Project, emphasized the importance of the survey in understanding the needs of the elderly and improving healthcare services. The survey includes health assessments and lifestyle questionnaires conducted by a trained medical team.

The survey team consists of specialists from the Ministry of Public Health, the National Planning Council, and Hamad Medical Corporation who are experienced in working with the elderly and providing necessary care. Alyaa Al Kuwari, Director of Public Relations and Communications at the MoPH, highlighted the Ministry’s commitment to improving services for the elderly and the community as a whole. The survey supports the goals of the National Health Strategy 2024-2030 and will provide data to develop policies and programmes for the elderly.

Participants selected for the survey will be contacted in advance to schedule home visits. Community members are encouraged to support the initiative and work with the survey team, who have been extensively trained by the MoPH, its partners, and the World Health Organization (WHO) in conducting home visits and data collection. The public can contact the unified health sector call centre for any inquiries regarding the survey and its field team.
