The Qatar Sand Drag Competition kicked off its 2025–2026 season in Doha, with the first round concluding on a high note. The event, held under the patronage of Qatar Racing Club (QRC) Chairman H E Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Thani, drew a significant turnout of spectators and participants from Qatar and other Gulf countries.

The championship, which is being closely watched by motorsports enthusiasts, featured various categories, including motorbikes and Polaris competitions. The competition’s first round was marked by intense rivalries and impressive performances from the participants.

Qatar Sand Drag Competition: A Showcase of Speed and Skill

The first day of the competition saw the Polaris Kids category take center stage, with Hammoud Al-Sulaiti emerging as the fastest rider. He was followed closely by Jassim Al-Mohammadi and Sultan Al-Ziyara, who secured second and third places, respectively. The two-wheel motorcycle categories also witnessed thrilling action, with 13 riders participating in the event.

Waleed Al-Sharshani claimed the top spot in the motorcycle competition, recording a time of 4.874 seconds. Dhari Al-Ansari and Mohammed Hussain trailed behind, finishing second and third, respectively. The Modified Category saw Jassim Hassan take the win, while Abdul-Samad Al-Shatti and Fahad Al-Dashti secured second and third places.

Modified and Pro Modified Categories

In the Modified Category, Abdullah Al-Sulaiti recorded the best time, narrowly edging out Hassan Abdulkarim, who finished second. Ahmed Al-Saffar completed the podium, taking third place. The Pro Modified Category title was claimed by Mahanna Al-Naimi, who outperformed Hassan Abdulkarim and Hamad Al-Yafei.

The Unlimited Category, considered the most powerful class, saw Yaqoub Al-Alawi record the fastest time to take the title. The second day of the competition witnessed even more intense action, with the presence of the most powerful engines. The Open Category was marked by fierce rivalries, with Yousef Al-Ali ultimately recording the fastest time in the history of the club’s Sand Drag Competitions, completing the course in 2.711 seconds.

Turbo and Nitrous Categories

The 6-cylinder engine category saw Faisal Al-Balushi claim the Nitrous title, followed by Mohammed Al-Sharshani in second place. The Turbo class was divided into two groups, with Khalid Al-Habsi emerging victorious in both categories. He won the class for cars maintaining their original chassis, as well as the class for modified chassis vehicles.

According to the competition organizers, the event was a huge success, with participants and spectators alike praising the organization and the challenging course. The Qatar Racing Club has a reputation for hosting high-quality motorsports events, and the Sand Drag Competition is no exception.

QRC Director Sheikh Jabor bin Khalid Al Thani crowned the top three winners in each category, congratulating them on their achievements. The second round of the Qatar Sand Drag Competition is scheduled to take place on November 13 and 14, with participants expected to push themselves to new heights.

As the competition continues, fans can expect to see more thrilling action and intense rivalries. The outcome of the championship remains uncertain, with several competitors still in contention for the top prizes.
