Dubai is set to welcome more than 30 new parks in the coming year, with some of them being big mega parks. The announcement was made by Ahmed Ibrahim AlZarouni, the Head of Public Parks and Recreational Facilities Department at Dubai Municipality, during the Arabian Travel Mart. These parks will vary in size, ranging from mega parks to neighborhood parks and smaller community play areas.

The new green spaces will feature a new generation design, similar to the recently opened parks in Al Nahda, Qusais, and Al Warqa. These parks boast elegant designs and more play areas for residents and visitors to enjoy. Dubai already has over 190 parks across the emirate, offering a variety of facilities and services such as sports fields, playgrounds, and barbecue areas for families and individuals.

AlZarouni also revealed that the number of parks in Dubai is set to exceed 70 in the next three years. By 2026, the emirate will have more than 70 parks that cater to different communities and not just families. This increase in green spaces aligns with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, which aims to double the areas dedicated to recreational areas and parks. These parks will serve the growing population and provide green corridors that connect various areas of the city.

Each park is designed with the specific needs of its community in mind. AlZarouni mentioned that parks are not just for children and families but are tailored to the demographic of the area. For instance, if an area has residents who enjoy playing cricket, a cricket ground will be included in the park. Similarly, if basketball is popular in a certain neighborhood, a basketball court will be part of the park’s amenities. This customized approach ensures that each park is unique and serves the majority of people in the community.

The addition of more parks and green spaces in Dubai not only enhances the city’s landscape but also promotes a healthier and more active lifestyle for residents. These new parks will provide opportunities for outdoor recreation, sports, and leisure activities for people of all ages. As Dubai continues to grow and develop, the focus on creating sustainable and accessible green spaces becomes increasingly important.

The planned expansion of parks in Dubai reflects the emirate’s commitment to creating vibrant and inclusive communities. With a strategic approach to park design and development, Dubai aims to provide residents and visitors with high-quality recreational areas that cater to their diverse needs and interests. As the city’s population continues to increase, the importance of green spaces as essential components of urban planning and design becomes more evident. By investing in parks and recreational facilities, Dubai is not only enhancing its quality of life but also positioning itself as a leading global city that values sustainability and community wellbeing.
