The UAE equestrian team displayed their skills at the Paris Olympics show jumping competition, finishing in 18th place. The team, consisting of Abdullah Al Marri, Omar Al Marzouqi, Ali Al Karbi, and Salem Al Suwaidi, participated in the qualifying round. Despite their efforts, they ended with a total of 72 faults in 249.47 seconds. The top 10 teams advanced to the final, which the UAE team narrowly missed out on. Despite their placement, Al Suwaidi expressed confidence in the team’s future performance in international events.

In addition to the equestrian team, UAE judoka Zafar Aram competed in the under 100kg category but lost to Dutch player Michael Koril in the round of 16. However, Aram had earlier secured a victory against Brazilian opponent Jonca Alves Levi in the round of 32. On the judo front, Omar Marouf will face Algerian champion Mohamed Mehdi Lili in his upcoming match. The UAE has sent a total of 14 athletes to the Paris Games, hoping to showcase their talent on the international stage.

During the opening ceremony, equestrian rider Omar Al Marzouqi and cyclist Safiya Al Sayegh proudly carried the UAE flag. Al Sayegh, the first female Emirati cyclist to qualify for the Olympics, will compete in the road race on August 4. The UAE has high hopes for their athletes, with cyclist Safiya Al Sayegh making history as a trailblazing female competitor in the cycling event. The UAE’s athletes have been training hard and are eager to prove themselves on the Olympic stage.

In other sports, UAE judoka Aram Grigorian put up an impressive performance, narrowly missing out on the bronze-medal playoff after a tough fight. Despite the loss, Grigorian showed determination and skill in his matches. In swimming, Yousef Al Matrooshi set his personal best record in the men’s 100-meter freestyle, while Maha Al Shehhi achieved the same feat in the women’s 200m freestyle. The UAE athletes are continuously striving for excellence and pushing their limits at the Paris Games. With a strong spirit of sportsmanship and dedication, they aim to make their country proud on the international stage.

As the Paris Olympics progress, the UAE’s athletes are showcasing their skills and determination in various sports. Equestrian rider Omar Al Marzouqi and his team, along with judoka Zafar Aram and others, are demonstrating their commitment to excellence in their respective events. The support and encouragement from the UAE community are crucial for the athletes as they compete on the global stage. The UAE’s participation in the Olympics brings national pride and unity, with fans eagerly following the performances of their representatives. The country’s athletes are determined to give their best and make a mark in their respective sports, showcasing the UAE’s sporting talent and dedication on an international platform.
