Khasab, located in the Musandam Governorate, recently celebrated the arrival of the first tourism vessel of the winter season. The vessel journeyed from Dubai to Muscat Governorate, carrying a total of 638 tourists and 1180 crew members from various countries. The celebration featured heritage sections, an exhibition of productive families and small to medium enterprises (SMEs), and tours of key heritage, historic, and tourism sites in the region, as well as visits to the local beaches. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Kamzari, from the Heritage and Tourism Department in Musandam Governorate, emphasized the positive impact of tourism vessels during the winter season on the local economy, through the diversification of income sources and attracting tourism investments.

The tourism sector in Khasab plays a significant role in enhancing the local economy by attracting both tourists and investments. According to Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Kamzari, the arrival of tourism vessels during the winter season helps to diversify income sources and contribute to the local economy’s growth. The program organized to celebrate the first tourism vessel of the season included various activities such as heritage sections, an exhibition of productive families and SMEs, and tours to explore the key heritage, historic, and tourism sites in Musandam Governorate. Khasab Port is expected to receive a total of 46 tourism vessels during the winter season of 2024/2025. This comes at a time when the number of tourism ships has reached 52, with a total of 76,156 tourists visiting last year. The increasing number of tourism vessels and tourists visiting Khasab reflects the growing popularity of the region as a tourist destination. The local economy stands to benefit from the influx of tourists, as it creates new opportunities for investment and growth in the tourism sector.
