The Al Shaqab International Arabian Horse Show 2024 recently concluded with Shamikhat Al Hawjer of Al Thamer Stud winning the gold in the Junior Fillies Championship category. Razeen Al Nasser of Al Nasser Stud and D Shatha of Al Salem Stud emerged as the champion Senior Stallion and Senior Mare. The event showcased the best Arabian horses in various categories over a span of four days at the prestigious Longines Arena.
In addition to the top winners, Magnums Ramses SH of Al Thamer Stud took home the gold in the Junior Colts Championship, Saber Al Shaqab of Al Thamer Stud won in the Yearling Colts Championship, and Expectations Al Wajbah owned by Al Wajbah Stud claimed victory in the Yearling Fillies Championship. The event also introduced a new Filly Foals class, offering winners the opportunity to qualify for prestigious championships such as the World Horse Show Championship, Katara Festival, and the World Champions Tour.
Khalid Al Jahni, Sports Director of the Al Shaqab International Horse Show, highlighted the strong competition at the championship, emphasizing the rich cultural heritage of purebred Arabian horses in the Qatari community. He noted the event’s contribution to the development and promotion of purebred Arabian horses both locally and internationally. The show received high praise from participating owners for its organization and the quality of horses in all categories.
H E Sheikh Nawaf bin Nasser Al Thani, owner of Al Nasser Stud, expressed his satisfaction with the results achieved by his stud, praising the strong competition and quality of participating horses. He thanked Al Shaqab for the well-organized event. The winners in each category received substantial cash prizes, with gold winners receiving QR100,000, silver winners QR70,000, and bronze winners QR50,000.
The Al Shaqab International Horse Show has become a major event in the region, with a significant increase in the number of participating horses from both Qatar and abroad in the latest edition. The event aims to showcase the best of purebred Arabian horses and promote their heritage and excellence. Deputy Executive Director at Al Shaqab, Saif Al Naemi, recognized the exceptional support of Yousef Mohammed Al Nuaimi, Director of Shared Services from the Social & Sport Contribution Fund, with an award on the final day of the event.
