As the new academic year approaches, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is stressing the importance of ensuring a safe and healthy commute for students. This includes implementing health and safety measures on school buses to provide a comfortable environment for both students and bus attendants. Safety during the journey to and from school is a crucial pillar in creating a secure educational environment, especially during the back-to-school season where students are filled with excitement and hope.

RTA continuously monitors the daily performance of the school transport sector across the Emirate, recognizing the critical importance of this service to the UAE’s leadership and parents. Regular inspections on buses confirm safety and road-worthiness, emergency devices are installed to guarantee swift responses, and attendants are responsible for escorting students to the nearest point to their homes. Inspection campaigns implemented by RTA’s specialized teams verify that bus operators adhere to school transport laws and standards.

School bus operators must instruct their drivers to strictly adhere to traffic regulations, particularly on roads and in areas surrounding schools, and to avoid obstructing the movement of other vehicles. Drivers are also instructed to refrain from parking buses in front of entrances and exits near schools to mitigate traffic congestion and ensure smooth traffic flow. School transport companies must provide comprehensive training for their drivers and bus attendants on managing students safely and professionally as mandated by RTA. This includes educating drivers on their primary responsibility for ensuring student safety through safe driving practices.

RTA acknowledges the diligent efforts of operators and school administrations in working tirelessly to safeguard students during their daily trips. It is essential for everyone involved in school transportation to prioritize safety and adhere to the necessary protocols and regulations to ensure a safe and comfortable journey for students. By following these measures and guidelines, school administrations and bus operators can help create a secure environment for students to travel to and from school. Parents can also have peace of mind knowing that their children are in safe hands during their daily commutes on school buses.

In conclusion, safety on school buses is a top priority for Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) as the new academic year approaches. Implementing health and safety measures, ensuring regular inspections, providing comprehensive training for drivers and attendants, and monitoring the performance of the school transport sector are all essential steps in safeguarding students during their daily trips to and from school. By working together to prioritize safety and adhere to regulations, school administrations and bus operators can create a secure environment for students, giving parents peace of mind about their children’s safety during their commute. It is crucial to maintain these standards to ensure a safe and healthy journey for students in Dubai.
