Renowned Dubai chef suffers critical injuries in London attack

Mussie Imnetu, the head chef of a renowned restaurant and exclusive club in Dubai, is currently in critical condition after being attacked near the Notting Hill Carnival in London. The 41-year-old was found unconscious with a severe head injury late Monday night in Queensway and is fighting for his life in a hospital. The suspect, a 31-year-old man from Newham, has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and is in custody at a South London police station. Imnetu’s family is receiving support from specialist officers as the investigation continues.

Imnetu, a Swedish national living in Dubai who was visiting London on business, previously worked at top London establishments such as Oblix at The Shard and The Savoy Grill. He currently serves as the head chef at The Brasserie in The Arts Club Dubai and has trained under renowned chefs including Alain Ducasse, Gordon Ramsay, and Marcus Wareing. Despite the arrest, authorities are urging anyone who may have witnessed the attack or have information related to the incident to come forward.

The Metropolitan Police are appealing for the public’s assistance in understanding Imnetu’s movements between 1pm and 10:30pm on the day of the attack. Detective chief inspector Brian Howie from the Met’s Homicide Command stated that they are trying to piece together the events leading up to the attack, specifically Imnetu’s whereabouts between leaving The Arts Club in Mayfair and arriving at the Dr Power restaurant in Queensway. Anyone who was in the area between 10pm and 11:30 pm on Monday or has images or videos from that time is urged to contact the authorities.

The incident occurred on a day when 230 people were arrested at Notting Hill Carnival, with five people being stabbed, two of whom are in life-threatening condition. Witnesses at the venue reportedly attempted to intervene during the attack, and the police are asking them to share any details that could assist in the investigation. Imnetu’s photos have been released by the authorities in hopes of triggering memories that might aid in piecing together the events leading to the attack.

The Arts Club has chosen not to comment on the situation, and the authorities are continuing their investigation to uncover the circumstances of the attack. Despite the unfortunate incident, Imnetu’s family, colleagues, and the community remain hopeful for his recovery and justice to be served for the violent assault he endured. As the investigation unfolds, the police are relying on public cooperation and any additional information that may shed light on the events of that fateful night near the Notting Hill Carnival in London.
