Qatar takes part in 43rd World Scout Conference

The 43rd World Scout Conference kicked off in Cairo, Egypt, with the participation of 178 national scout members from the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM). A delegation from the Qatar Scouts and Guides Association, led by H E Dr. Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Nuaimi, is partaking in the week-long event. Hosted by the Egyptian Federation for Scouts and Girl Guides, the conference aims to foster knowledge sharing among scout leaders from diverse cultures and promote cooperation and coexistence through a comprehensive scientific program. The event includes workshops, symposia, cultural activities, and discussions on environmental sustainability and peace in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Commissioner General of QSGA, Jassim Muhammad Al Hardan, highlighted the importance of participation in the conference in building relationships and cooperation within the global scout community. Scouts play a crucial role in fostering collaboration, sharing life experiences, and promoting unity among nations. Al Hardan emphasized the vital humanitarian aspect of scout activities in disaster management and mitigation. Member of WOSM, Dr. Mehdi ben Khelil, described WOSM as an educational platform that collaborates with national scout societies to provide a holistic educational project aimed at developing young people’s talents in various aspects.

The conference not only provides a platform for scout leaders to exchange ideas and best practices but also serves as a forum for discussing critical issues such as environmental sustainability and peace. The event aims to contribute to the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals through scout activities and initiatives. Participants have the opportunity to engage in cultural, sporting, and social activities, fostering a spirit of camaraderie and cooperation among attendees. The conference recognizes the significant contributions made by scout leaders and WOSM to society worldwide.

The Qatar Scouts and Guides Association’s participation in the conference underscores their commitment to promoting cooperation, unity, and mutual understanding among nations through scout activities.
