The Qatar National Dialogue on Climate Change 2024 (QNDCC 2024) brought together government officials, business leaders, academics, and researchers to discuss Qatar’s efforts in tackling climate change. Organized by Earthna Centre in partnership with the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change as part of the Qatar Sustainability Week 2024, the event served as a platform for shaping national and international climate policies and promoting international cooperation to address climate challenges. Minister of Environment and Climate Change, H E Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie, highlighted the importance of unifying efforts to exchange expertise and develop innovative solutions to address climate change challenges, enhancing Qatar’s ability to adapt to these challenges and develop sustainable environmental strategies.

During the event, the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change and Earthna launched a series of white papers focusing on leveraging artificial intelligence and green finance, driving policy reform, and enhancing international collaboration to achieve environmental sustainability in Qatar and worldwide. The participation of national and international entities, as well as the private sector and civil society, demonstrated Qatar’s commitment to addressing climate challenges at local, regional, and global levels. The dialogue emphasized key themes such as adapting to climate change effects in Qatar, environmental and sustainable tourism, and the role of national efforts in addressing climate change. It stressed the importance of embracing dialogue to unify efforts in dealing with challenges affecting the present and future generations.

Minister of Transport H E Jassim bin Saif Al Sulaiti, Minister of Environment and Climate Change H E Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie, and Minister of Municipality H E Abdullah bin Hamad bin Abdullah Al Attiyah highlighted the importance of providing a safe climate and environmentally sustainable future for current and future generations. They emphasized the role of the dialogue in enhancing Qatar’s active participation in addressing climate change issues internationally and in developing innovative solutions. Abdullah bin Hamad Al Attiyah, Chairman of Abdullah bin Hamad Al Attiyah International Foundation for Energy and Sustainable Development, emphasized the urgency of addressing climate change due to its global impact on sea levels, extreme weather phenomena, biodiversity loss, and health risks.

Earthna Executive Director Dr. Gonzalo Castro de la Mata highlighted the success of the Qatar National Dialogue on Climate Change in providing a platform for exchanging ideas and translating them into effective steps to address the effects of climate change. The event emphasized the importance for individuals, companies, organizations, academic institutions, and government entities to recognize their role in addressing the climate crisis and collectively taking decisive measures to ensure a sustainable future. The event aligns with the sustainability goals of the Qatar National Vision 2030 by shaping the country’s response to climate change and identifying collective measures needed to mitigate its effects and adapt.
