Qatar Museums is celebrating the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris with a series of exciting exhibitions and public events. The program, which runs from July 24, includes exhibitions curated by Qatar Museums and 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum, as well as other events such as Jiwan taking over Le Dalí at Le Meurice hotel and the launch of the first-ever Arabic translation of writings by Pierre de Coubertin, the father of the modern Olympic games. This initiative reaffirms the strong ties between Qatar and France and aims to unite both nations through their shared love of sport.

The first exhibition, titled Esports | A Game Changer, explores the evolution of competitive gaming and its impact on the cultural economy. The exhibition delves into the history of esports, highlighting key moments and contemporary stars in the industry. It also looks at the future of esports and its implications in various aspects of society. The exhibition is curated by Dr. Christian Wacker and esports industry leaders Benjamin Buchtala and Jannik Rädisch, and it will be on view in Doha in 2025.

Another exhibition, Olympism: More than a Dream, presented by 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum, showcases Qatar’s participation in the Olympics over the past 40 years. The exhibition pays tribute to Pierre de Coubertin and features iconic Olympic objects from the Museum’s collection. It also highlights key milestones in Qatar’s Olympic journey, including the country’s first medal in the history of the Olympic Games. The exhibition explores Qatar’s aspirations to host the Olympic Games in the future.

In addition to the exhibitions, Qatar Museums will launch the Arabic translation of Pierre de Coubertin’s selected writings at the Team Qatar Reception in Paris. The book, titled Textes Choisis, Volume 1, collects some of Coubertin’s most important essays on the power of sport to bring people together. The publication aims to introduce Arabic-reading audiences to the values that underpin the modern Olympic movement.

Jiwan, the flagship restaurant of the National Museum of Qatar, will bring its distinctively Doha flavors to Paris by taking over Le Dalí at Le Meurice hotel. The unique menu will highlight the vibrant flavors and rich heritage of Doha, offering guests a culinary experience inspired by Middle Eastern traditions. The collaboration between Jiwan and Le Meurice promises a dining experience that blends elegant Parisian aesthetic with Doha’s cultural richness.

Overall, Qatar Museums’ summer program for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris aims to strengthen the cultural ties between Qatar and France through a shared love of sport. The exhibitions and events curated by Qatar Museums and 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum showcase the evolution of competitive gaming, Qatar’s Olympic journey, and the power of sport to unite cultures. With the launch of the Arabic translation of Pierre de Coubertin’s writings and Jiwan’s culinary takeover in Paris, the program celebrates the diversity and richness of both nations while honoring the spirit of the Olympic Games.
